Are we the first in this group to be owners in this region?
Anyone contemplating owning in egypt can contact us, we'll be glad to assist in any way we can.

Hope you didn't have a really bad experience whilst you were there.
Egypt isn't for everybody, however we like it and have done for many a year. Yes we've had a few problems whist we were buying the property, maily interpretation....for instance...
" I move wall and make bigger room for you living, I need pay"
Why did you do it without asking first?
"You like yes?"
Yes I like it.
"Then you pay yes"
No
"Why you no pay"
I didn't tell you to do this work
"But you like yes"
Yes
"then you pay"
NO..GO AWAY!! (or words to that effect)
This went on for about three hours untill he finally realised he'd done the work but wasn't going to get any money for it.

First year (ish) of renting
Well, just completed our first 12/14 months and luckily not encountered too many problems.
I suppose this is mainly due to having a good agent (meet and greeter) over in Hurghada who interacts with the clients and ensures they have everything they wish (within reason).
It's always a worry being so far away from the apartment and relying on e-mails and hurried phone calls (they're damned expensive to Egypt).
So, are we glad we decided to rent our holiday home? Well yes, it's paid for our flights and given us some spending money when we go there, but most of all, it's given us the money to maintain and improve the apartment now instead of us having to save and wait until we could afford it...also, it keeps the place clean and free from the desert dust.

Hi,
Not bad at the moment Returned to the UK 3 days ago after spending Christmas in Hurghada. Got wet with the rain for the very first time in 25 years of traveling to Egypt. It bounced it down for about 4 hours and did a fair bit of damage to surrounding villas that didn't have a water-spout on their roof. After the last storm I'm surprised not many had them installed!

We had 2 days without electicity, however didn't have to water the plants for a couple of days.
The shark situation seems to have died a death now, all beaches are now open. It was believed a cargo ship containing livestock and frozen meat, dumped some of its rotten load a couple of miles off shore of Hurghada causing a feeding frenzy.......that's the story anyway. Beaches seem to have cleaned up well after the oil spill in June, the agencies cleaned it away almost as soon as it was sighted....can't put off the tourists y'know!

It rained last Jan when we were in Hurghada just for a few hours.....
Intended to snorkel again when we go to Sharm later this week, but my fwends were a bit concerned[sharkwise].....
I wasnt...... but if the beaches are closed dont spose I will have the chance.......
When you say the beaches are closed do you mean you cant go in the sea or cant even go on the beach........sniff.....
All the beaches are still pretty much closed in Sharm
