We have Nationwide accounts - their e savings account gives a good rate of interest too. But we had them before we moved to France - they are happy for us to continue and send all statements etc to our French address but when we asked to open a euro acount they said that we couldn't as we were not UK residents - when I said that we already had accounts she pointed out that we had opened them before leaving the UK.

Hi Tan I always ask for security deposit to be paid with final balance. Put it into bank and then if everything is ok send them a fresh cheque back.I wouldnt risk the cheque not clearing. We have had some folks who have abused things but they are in the minority, but also it makes you very wary.My advice to you is cash the cheque for security deposit and then re issue it when you know everything is ok.
