As Seen On TV - I made it to National TV

Using press and magazine advertising, brochures, mailings - old hat or still cost-effective?

As Seen On TV - I made it to National TV

Post by cottageguru »

Weeeeehh.....I wrote down some goals at the end of 2008 and one of them was to be a guest on CTVs Canada AM - our coast to coast national TV show. Two days later I was invited on as a guest: http://watch.ctv.ca/news/top-picks/rent ... clip127698

The hook for the segment was the massive rise in owners looking to rent out their vacation homes because they can't sell them.

It was a really quick segment but I wanted to get the message out that it's not a quick fix - it takes a lot of time and work to get it right. Hopefully that happened.

Well done Heather! You were very cool and collected, and got your point across very succinctly.

Fantastic, Heather - you acquitted yourself so well! Lost in admiration: I'd have been totally tongue-tied! As has been said, in a short space of time you got the main points over very neatly and I wish you every success with the book!

Well done Heather, how cool is that  I didn't know you were English either.

Awww thanks guys! I appreciate all this feedback - just made my day.
I didn't know you were English either.
We emigrated out here in 2003 when my husband retired from the RAF. My dad was Canadian so although I'd never lived in Canada I had citizenship, so it was relatively easy to sponsor my husband. Waterfront property was very inexpensive in 1998 when we bought our first vacation home, which was followed by several more. We now have the one we live in, and Osprey Cottage which is a 10 minute drive away.

With all the properties, which we rented from a distance before moving here, I learnt a lot, which is what went into my book.

There you are - all in a nutshell!

Yes, Heather, it's great to put a face (and a voice!) to a name - and you were so eloquent.
Well done!
