I'd not heard of it before, and when you first posted it I read it as "know it all".

I've only just realised they mean "know ital".

It's a bit of an unfortunate name!!! :?

We are with knowital since many years. Very professional website well managed. Used to bring us a reasonable number of reservation but everything is difficult in the last few years ad numbers have gone down. We decided to renew for one more year and see how it goes.

Hi Titti, at last some posting on Italy! Very few and far between isn't it?

Don't know the site, I also read it as know it al!! How silly can I get.

Hope things are better there than here.....!

The site is well planned and interesting; however, when I asked for info on placing my apartment with them, I found the set-up very different from the 'regular' holiday portals that most of us use.

You send them the texts and pics and they make up a web site for your property to their own knowital specifications.

Although there is a discount for first-timers, their rates are high and astronomically so after the 1st year.

It's not a gamble I'm willing to take.

I think knowing your market is key as well...most of my guests in Italy are Americans....and that site is not somewhere they would be used to going to find holiday rentals - they tend (in my case) to find me on the "big" ones, VRBO, HA. (and, many Americans also go through rentals agencies - although I have not gone that route). Maybe for an Italian market it would be better (?)

Musetta, they told me that they aim for a foreign market, not an Italian one and the site is solely in English as far as I can see.

I agree that my US & Australian guests both looked on US/UK sites for rentals.

At the end of the day, when searching for rental property anywhere in the world you are NOT going to google know ital or variations on that, but use words relative to rental etc.

I always try to bear this in mind when choosing a site to advertise my apartment on. I signed up last year on a free site called Direct Holiday Bookings. Haven't had one enquiry; but I feel that the name should be Holiday Bookings Direct. Perhaps I'll suggest it to them :D

thanks guys
decided not to bother with knowital,as i thought they were a little expensive.
that said,we have tried loads of freebies,no response.
owners direct, only one enquiry in 2 months.
suffice to say no bookings at all.starting to become a worry.
still lots of avenues to persue but i must admit to being a little despondent (along with others) at the level of enquiries.
hows everyone else doing?
also if any of you in italy fancy a free couple ofnights stay to explore the region we would love to have you.
take care

ps how do you put your od link on?

oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that! If it makes you feel any better, my booking are WAY, way down for Italy from last year...I'm still hoping though that there will be some more last-minute - that's a bit what happened last year anyway...got all the early bookers...than things went quiet until the last-minute ones started.
