I figured they would show up as they had effectively already paid for one week of the two. They were fine as guests although they did leave the house a bit messy, but then I understand that is fairly normal as well
Advice needed
I had a similar problem for 2 weeks last August from 2 Spanish couples who actually phoned me from Madrid to check me out. The guy expressed surprise that we have a house in Spain but I am not fluent (I am getting better). Luckilly he spoke good English and was happy that I existed. They wanted to pay cash on arrival and in the end settled on 50% 6 weeks before and 50% on arrival. They also paid the damage deposit on arrival and wanted it back when they left which was a bit of a risk!
