A dog can do a serious amount of damage in a short amount of time! I know someone who had £14K's worth of damage in a couple of hours whilst the owners went out for a meal. Guests refused to pay for the damage, they were not insured even though they claimed to be on booking and my friends insurance ...

The owners of the FHL over which you would have a ROW will no doubt be informing their guests that others have a ROW through their backyard. So guests will know that people will be walking back and forth and should behave. You may find that your guests on occasions may be invited to share the Hotub!...

My cottage has 4 ROW's over a number of other properties. The title to my cottage says that ALL owners and occupiers have a ROW. This includes anybody, inc holidaymakers, tenants and their visitors. I clarified this with a solicitor and the solicitor said that all guests and their visitors, myself, ...

Too late now because your sorted but you can request an urgent connection. Wracking my brains trying to remember what it's called.... It's a fast track something or other. It used to cost £185 to get connected within 24hrs. Draytek do routers that you can fit mobile sims into and use as part of an A...

Stripe does the same and in addition you can bolt it into a website too to take money via a booking form / shopping cart or just a simple button. You can take payments over the phone and create bills that are sent by email.

Use Stripe as an online merchant service. They have an option allowing you to take payments in this way. The only downside is that you'll need a device ready to login to your stripe account when you need it. Will someone on the phone wait for you to fire up a laptop or a PC. Using a phone to do it a...

Wiki!!!!!! Wouldn't take for granted anything on there at all. I call them letting agents as a personnel choice because that's what i choose to call them. To me that's what they are, nobody else has to agree with what i choose to call them. Travel Agent, Booking Agent, OTA, Online Travel Agent. Thes...

They are letting agents to me, i know most would call them something different. Renting a holiday Home is a short term let to me opposed to a long term, permanent let. To me it's the same just a few different rules and regs etc that's all. You're renting a property for anything from just a couple of...

I wouldn't apply for a mortgage secured by both your incomes even on a small domestic residential home never mind a business myself. Just a single income and treat any extra income as a bonus for yourself. Calculating your income on a holiday let isn't easy and when you have calculated what you thin...

I experienced exactly the same scenario as Joanna above but I went with Cottages.com. To get out of contract I had to say I wanted out before May to get out 18 months later. If you say you want out in July for example it will 2yrs before you can leave!!!!!!!! I left cottages.com and my profits are h...

I actually had a young man phone me to enquire about booking my cottage last autumn.

He specifically asked to book just one night! I asked why as this was very unusual.

He replied "It's my 18th Birthday and ..........."

I said no!

As a rental either permanent or short let (Holiday Let) it's now law that at least one external door MUST have a thumbturn. This allows tennants / guests to escape quickly without having to find the keys. Fire being the main reason. This allso by chance ensures that it's possible to get in (with a k...

The company i use advertises themselfs generally as providing Skips for hire. These Skips are picked up and taken away to there own yard where they have a weighbridge etc. They then empty the skips, sort out the recyclables, sell on what they can and then take what's left to the local council site w...
