music licence

I was contacted by phone by a company called PPL PRS who tell me I need a music licence. I have a complex of 10 cottages, one of which I live in, we don't play music outside or in communal areas. They tell me that because I provide radios in the cottages, I need a music licence - does anyone have an...

From the website link you provide here in your posting there is a link eventually to WiFi being available if I bother to trawl that far. Plus the website does not seem to have been updated since 2013. The place looks lovely but no WiFi immediately obvious and I scroll on. Sorry. you are looking at ...

The email I got wasn't an automated one, it was from a named person in Customer Services who replied to me as soon as I raised the issue. They put the Wifi details back on as soon as I pointed it out although it took almost a week for their website to update! She apologised profusely but apologies d...

Thank you to everyone for your advice. I really wouldn't want to go to court over this, I just want the bookings! I will contact the Head Office tomorrow and try and negotiate something with them along the lines of promotion - I have been with them for 17 years. The rep has admitted to me in the pas...

problem with booking agents' description of my property

In need of some advice please folks. I have a complex of 9 cottages, swimming pool, games room, spa room, tennis court etc, and am with a well-known agency (don't know if I am allowed to name them). I've been operating for 17 years - same agency all the way - but since last year, bookings have been ...

flood insurance for riverside house

Our site of 10 cottages is on the banks of a river - it had flooded when we bought it in 2000 but we were able to get insurance as we hadn't had a claim. We partially flooded in 2012 and couldn't get flood insurance until a year had passed - we are now covered again - maybe because we have "com...

evicting guest

Thank you for your nice comments AngloDutch - it was the worst experience we've had in 16 years - the only good thing is that we didn't have any bookings for a few weeks afterwards so we didn't have to cancel any bookings! Bessie, we did involve the police as it was criminal damage, but although the...

evicting guest

We have 9 cottages on one site and we live on site - in 15 years, we have only had to evict one group - they had a problem with the water (that's another story!) so we had to go in to sort it out - while we were in there, the 2 children were swinging on one of the kitchen cabinet doors which had com...

gifts to departing guests?

We have a range of "freebies" to hand out to departing guests, pens, torch key rings, fridge magnets, mini notepads etc, all with our phone number and website details printed on them - all things people will (hopefully) keep and be reminded of their holiday and maybe book again

we have a site of 9 cottages and had never taken pets as we thought it would be too much if, for example, every cottage brought along a pet - but a couple of years ago, we decided to give pets a go in just one cottage to see if bookings increased - first of all, bookings didn't increase, and, in fac...

thank you to my ocd guests

I just love it when I find the oven hasn't been used! We once took in a supermarket delivery which arrived before the guests did - £285 worth of food for one week!!! Chickens, turkeys, legs of lamb etc, all for 8 people - not my idea of a holiday cooking that lot!

clocks go back tonight

total of 96 clocks to re-set on our site of 9 cottages plus our own house - including heating timers, pool timers, ovens, microwaves etc etc - always happens at the start of half-term week, so we did them all yesterday and told everyone arriving that the clocks would be out by an hour until Sunday m...
