Honestly, I’m surprised and confused by how some of you are reacting! Where did I blame brexit and for what personal problems exactly?! Business is not personal, it’s business and aren’t we all in the same business here? I mentioned it as perhaps another factor in the falling numbers and I certainly...

Come to London, Europeans! London voted overwhelmingly to stay in the EU and we consider ourselves a separate country from the rest of the UK! Oh and doesn't that say it all about the "United" kingdom. There are many different aspects of London and not all are pro EU I take it you v...

Maybe they’re just not bothering with London and heading out to the countryside? Can’t say I don’t feel safe living here and it’s a whole lot safer then it was when I was a teen and you could get beaten up by football fans in Whitehall and the coppers wouldn’t bother to stop them! London doesn’t hav...

Where are the Europeans?

We usually get mainly American/Canadian guests, with French, German, Spanish and other Europeans filling long weekends, especially from Autumn to Spring. This year we have had barely any Europeans at all and no bookings for later in the year. Has anyone else noticed this trend? I’m starting to wonde...

So sorry you’ve been through that, but please, if you haven’t already, change the locks too. The scammers can find your calendar and might try the same thing again if they know it’s empty! I had a close call once when someone tried to book a weekend and I found him on twitter telling all his ‘crew’ ...

I also have a Beko, it’s brilliant! There is a ‘daily wash’ option that is very quick and because it’s a huge drum it really cuts down the amount of washes I have to do, so saves a lot of time and money. I have one king sized bed that I have special covers for, as thick as duvets and I can fit them ...

As most of my guests have arrived by plane and many long distance, I supply the cot and all bedding, because they'd have to lug it all around with them. It's a travel cot and they have a hard plastic bottom liner, so I don't use a cot mattress, but fold a clean duvet up and tuck it all in with an el...

That would probably be the end for us. I had a thriving business ruined by the combined inefficiency of the VAT and tax offices 20 years ago and the experience nearly gave me a mental breakdown.
I just don't think I could cope with all that again.

If you have trouble finding a flat, have a look at the new Premier Inn, on Lavender Hill. I got my cousins a good rate there for a July stay, as it's newly opened, so the prices haven't gone crazy yet. It's only a 10-15 minute walk to BP.

My place would have probably suited you, but I only have a few days left in Aug, 23rd-27th. It's a house, but only about a 20 minute walk from BP and I'm cheaper than most small apartments. If that's any help, let me know.

This has been talked about for ages on various forums, but from what I gather, airbnb will just ask hosts if they have permission and accept the answer, like a tick box? It'll be up to individual councils to enforce, but if they have no extra funds to do that, it'll end up being another token gestur...

Crumbs. My guests must be warm blooded. I have 4.5 tog in the summer and 10.5 in the winter. There are extra blankets available but don't think they are really used at all. That's what we have, the 4.5 tog ones fold up quite small, so we just store them in a laundry bag in a cupboard. They don't ta...

Thank you Mousie. I forget where I read that freezing works. I am still camping in another bedroom! Freezing kills moth larvae. When I had mice, I bought some of those electronic plugs that are supposed to annoy them so they leave. Didn't bother them at all! I set humane traps to catch them and got...

When things like that have happened before, no action seems to happen until it hits the news sites. Airbnb then seem to take notice and fly into PR damage limitation mode to help out the owner and tell the world how much they care. I will never use airbnb exactly because of their policies abo...
