I have just received a text message from 'Joanne' asking for availability for four adults, and attaching a very dubious looking file with her details. I tried to ring the number rather than open said file, and number is 'unavailable' Numerous searches for the same number show it up as spam. First ti...

Thanks, Kev. We will be right down in the south, so it is a full day's journey back to France, and apparently the policy is 90 days in a year, not 90 days at a time! Part of me would like to think they will turn a blind eye, but I suspect if a payout was required for an accident or something, they c...

Car Insurance when in Spain

I have come across a conundrum regarding car insurance taking our french registered car to Spain, where we intend to spend four months during the winter. Whilst the insurance company (Pacifica) are happy to cover us for three months, they are adamant that any time in excess of that will be on third ...

I have been using Cornhill Direct for the last few years, (I think it was Tansy who recommended them on here) having found that Currencies Direct seemed to be getting less and less competitive.

The only charges are at this end, ie €1.55 from Credit Agricole. No charge from Cornhill.

Thanks, guys. I have tried ticking the server authentication, but will try again with other combinations including port 26.

Do yours both work tith the smtp.wanadoo.fr? I am sure that was what I had on old computer!

Will try later today. Heading off to see Tour de France.

Outgoing Server Address

I am trying to set up my new computer, using Windows Live Mail for both wanadoo and orange addresses. I have no problem in receiving emails but can't get it to send. I have the outgoing server addresses set to smtp.wanadoo.fr and smtp.orange.fr but just get error messages. Port number is 25, and I h...

Just keep ignoring all the renewal emails, and eventually a man from the Phillippines will ring you to offer a very advantageous price. ie the normal one| After a protracted conversation from which the words barge and pole come to mind, he evenutally conceeded and gave us another six months foc. I d...

I would vote for that one too. Very rarely goes off for no reason, and certainly nothing like the original one we had that would go off at all times of night and day.

Hi GG Just to warn you that Ikea in Toulouse is going through a major refurbishment. Whilst most of the furniture seemed to be unaffected, the kitchen department was reduced to extremely limited stock. I wanted chopping boards, candles, and a fresh supply of my 365 china, and came away with none of ...

Just checked my area (Lot et Garonne) which had gone from 70 three years ago to 178 a couple of days ago.

It has dropped, but only to 162. Obviously not many agency properties in our area.
