We supply logs/kindling free of charge, we have never had to buy logs for 15 years although I do have to chop/spilt/stack them, I see it as a good form of exercise and we usually have at least a couple of years worth of seasoned hardwood/softwood logs on hand. We do get the trees given free of charg...

I am very interested in migrating to internet-based control systems for our villa but have on query (I tried Googling but got myself more confused by references to static internal and external addressing!!) - if you go down this route do you need to get your broadband changed to a static IP address...

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it. Our speed is 0.25MB until 14th May - it sometimes took about half an hour to answer an email. We use the Proliphix system in our Florida villa - which is great and saves money but they aren't available in the UK as far as I'm aware. We just want to turn the h...

Internet Thermostats
We are about to have our 1/4MB Broadband upgraded by BT to fibre optic Broadband 55MB - We are considering using a an internet thermostat so we can turn the heat on/off for guest's arriving.
Can anyone recommend a thermostat that is easy to use for us and guest's.
Thank you.

We ended up buying a SilentNight Memory foam King size mattress fro Costco (UK) for about £220 inclusive of VAT We are very happy with it, we also have a Tempur mattress at home which we paid £1000 for and the memory foam one is just as good although the Tempur is a bit harder Cotco often reduce the...

If they are both UK ratings then there would be a significant cost difference between an A and a G rating. G is really inefficient. I don't know how you can work out the cost, but personally I wouldn't give house room to something with that low a rating. (unless the G is a US rating which is differ...

We have just had a Proliphix installed in our villa in Florida and can control the A/C heat via the internet, when we get a booking we enter the dates and that's it done, you can enter dates up to one year in advance. Guest's can adjust the controls up/down, it has 4 settings and automatically goes ...

We have problems with Moles every year and what a mess they make, we use the tunnel traps and they are the best in my opinion, we never use poison or gas, we also have to keep the rabbits under control because of the damage they do. I've never heard of Moles moving on after a few weeks, In some coun...

Re: Real estate question
Is it worth buying a property in the USA right now to turn it into vacation rentals? How has the vacation rental marketing been impacted with this economy? As property owners, have you noticed an increase in vacancies? Thanks. Yes, you can get some good deals, but they are very expensive to run, an...

:D In my experience I would say it's rare to find the place left very clean. Usually the place is left OK but never beds stripped (I don't ask nor expect it) but we do expect rubbish to be removed. We do cater for 8 though...so I think we have a lot of wear and tear compared to smaller properties. ...
