I had to cancel a booking last year. It did not seem to effect the position in the listing and I still got bookings. It does show up in the reviews so it could put some people off booking but it didn’t seem to have too much effect. As this was my first cancellation I wasn’t charged a penalty but I t...

I would email them to complain. My subscription expired last week and although booking have gone right down I do still get booking from them and worked out it was worth it (just). I didn't renew straight away and let my listing expire. They then were calling me to hassle me to renew and I told them ...

I got the exact same call from Nattiest and have been informed that I can't receive rental income into my personal account as it is deemed used for business. They wrote me a letter where they sent me a copy of their terms and conditions where it is stated that my personal account can only be used fo...

We use them and you do need to have a lot of patience with writing out the description of your property as you send them the description and then they sort of reword it sometimes changing it (not for the better) so it did take a lot of tweaking but we got there in the end You also have to be totally...

I thought that with HA online booking you had to offer a 30 free cancellation. That is what we had to sign up to and I was not happy about it. Did you not had to sign up to that when implementing online booking with HA? If not that is great. It was my understanding that any guest who booked online w...

Paypal can and will reverse a charge for any reason. They always side with the buyer. I have direct experience with this with another business I run (not holiday rental)

I think the experiences in this thread is another reason why it is so important to promote your own website (easier said than done)

I would stay about 50%. We funnily get quite a lot of people who live locally, who are moving house, need temporary accommodation, who have family visiting and don't have room to accommodate them. But we also get a lot of European visitors and guests form Australia, South Africa, USA

Hi Essar, How do guest credit card details work with BC if you use FB? Can you still get access to the details by logging into the BC extranet? or how is it displayed in FB? This for us is useful as sometimes guests who stay in our apartment want to stay on if we have availability or book for extra ...

How are you finding freetobook? I haven't signed up yet but am considering it and also considering supercontrol. My main issue is finding a system that will update availability on multiple sites. What put me off freetobook is that it doesn't update HA. Supercontrol seems to but I believe it is only ...

7 Aspire I like your more pragmatic approach. How do you estimate though long things are going to last? I am doing this as a business so want to have a process in place. Especially as the property is large. 30% is the norm for buy to let however my holiday let is in a much better condition after 6 y...

Matesalka, I would be interested to hear updates, lessons learned, etc., as you make the transition from long-term letting to holiday letting. I do long-term lets only but have been considering making the transition in one of the buildings. It will be interesting to hear how the costs compare when ...
