If you opt in to HA advanced payments with their fee of 3% plus transaction charges does that make 6% overall as Yapstone currently take 3% transaction charge?

Refunding security deposits

Hi

I and my guests are being hit by exchange rate fluctuations when I refund security deposits to foreign banks/cards. Anyone got any bright ideas to avoid this? Some of the security deposits are large amounts and losing £50 on return.
Thanks

So, at the moment, I pay no charges to my bank for a BACs transfer of their security deposit back to my guest when they leave, usually done in a day or so. Now I learn that OD will charge me £4.50 for the "pleasure" of taking my guest's deposit from my account and paying it back to my gue...

Hi I have a new Wave problem. I don't know how to charge to a card saved by the customer on Wave. Customer paid the deposit by Wave and saved her card details. She now wants me to take the final balance from that saved card. Anyone know how this is done? There's lots of info on Wave about saving car...

You can do a partial refund through Stripe which I've had a go at. It will be interesting to see if I get the whole amount requested refunded. However you can only do a refund within 60 days of the payment which won't work for me with my current set up where people pay up 60 days prior to rental sta...

Security deposits

Now that we can no longer charge credit card fees how are you managing security deposits? If I take the security deposit via Stripe I lose 1.5%+ when I receive it and the refund will incur the same. I'm thinking of telling clients to pay security deposits by bank transfer. Hopefully that will mean m...

AirBnb cancellation policy is not great for big expensive houses. A cancellation the day before means a 50% loss of rental and no chance to re-rent. You can set minimum rental period no problem. And do set a cleaning fee - it's fixed and doesn't show up as the rental cost in the search. Their commis...

I've spent a lot of today wasting my time talking to OD reps or on their online chat, trying to make sense of my incredibly low ranking on the listings (whatever the search criteria) for 3 of the properties I have on there. I have spoken to 6 reps, they all said my ranking metrics were excellent. Th...

I'm on subscription, I have online bookings enabled, I don't have Staysaver installed. I know the rules and I do everything seemingly right - to no effect. Yes it's possible they are promoting PPB properties over mine, some of the properties are so low quality I think it's more likely to put people ...

Owners Direct/HomeAway ranking metrics

I have quite a few properties on Owners Direct and I've been using it for many years. It was the place I used to get most bookings..not anymore. Today, as a guest would, I searched for one of my best properties under area, specific dates, number of people and number of bedrooms. Using these criteria...

Just to add to this the Polizia dello stato website where you register guests is the worst website I have ever come across, it took me ages to get the hang of it. Pambon - re confirmation. You are supposed to log back into the website 24 hours of more after registering guests (but not beyond the mon...
