I'm beginning to feel that Dr Francis is one of my best friends he writes so often! Maybe I should invite him to be a friend on facebook? :D

He's been stripped of his doctorate and contacted us via One Off Places.

Wants to stay with us for the whole of November. Too bad, we're half booked up.

Email address used was Micdavid1100@ymail.com

He wants to come to Paris too!
Also via Getaway Earth - my first and only "inquiry" from them....

Thought it was fishy. So glad I have this forum to save me any wasted reply time - thanks!

Moi aussi just now. I'll email getawayearth because they do seem to care - I've been in touch with them a couple of times and they were responsive and helpful.

Is there any reason not to give getawayearth a link to this thread?

Probably a very good idea to give them a link to this thread.

Joe Jones of GetawayEarth has now sent out a msg to advertisers:

Dear All,

It has been brought to our attention that a known scammer has been sending enquiries to owners of properties listed on Getaway Earth.

If any of you have received an enquiry from a David Francis then please ignore and delete the email. After agreeing to a booking the request will most likely offer you an over payment for the rental period and a request to pay this additional money to a third party for other ‘travel expenses’. This scam is well documented and should be ignored.

Getaway Earth would like to thank those of you who contacted us about this so swiftly so that we could warn all other users of our site.

Best wishes,

--

Thanks guys! Your quick action and Getaway Earth's quick follow-up have saved me being taken for a ride. I too was excited to get my first enquiry from Getaway Earth and my first enquiry from USA, but it turned out to be my first scam enquiry! I shall browse this forum more frequently in future.
