Invoices

Post by Whatever »

Another newby question I'm afraid. Do you issue invoices to each person who rents your accommodation or just when they are requested? Thanks.

I don't, but I know many do, especially if they use specialist software. I just request the money by email and send an acknowledge by way of a receipt by email. I mainly let to individuals who have no need of a formal invoice and only issue them if they pay via Paypal or it is a business let. I've no doubt some would consider it unprofessional not to issue one but I've very rarely been asked for one.

I have never been asked for or issued one - but we don't do business lets.

All get invoices and receipts.

Invoices only if they use PayPal to pay and everyone gets a booking confirmation letter/email.

The booking form is a bit like an invoice as it states how much is owed, what it's for, how to pay it and refers to the t&c.

Occasionally we've been asked for a receipt so guests can claim from their employer and then I've essentially sent the confirmation with 'receipt' in the heading.

Check if there's anything specific you're required to do to comply with accounting records in your country.

I sometimes do invoices but as a chambre d'hôte, mostly only invoice / receipts on departure.

They get an invoice when paying by Paypal, otherwise it's simply a written email confirmation that they've paid the deposit, the balance, the full amount etc.
