How much for a long term winter gite rental?

Post by Chania »

Does anyone know what would be a reasonable rent for a two bed gite in the Charente Maritime area for 6 months. All extras, water, electricity and oil for heating will be on top of the rental.

I'd imagine the equivalent of about 4-8% of property value / year, similar to a standard long term let. Remember that out of that percentage you have all your own costs like maintenance.

Its also worth becoming familiar with the law on removing tenants who dont pay.

The maximum length of a holiday let in France is 3 months. After that it becomes a furnished rental, with a 12 month minimum length of stay. We charge €450 per calendar month for a 3 month Winter let. That includes everything except wood for the stove and electricity. That is for a one-bedroomed cottage.
