How to sell our gite business

Post by Bella »

Sadly we are having to return to the UK due to family problems. So we are selling our house and gite. No great rush for a couple of years, but as it may take that long or longer we have started with an agent.
Question is do we just stick with agents or do we try to sell privately aswell?
Hubby is concerned about alot of hassle with doing it ourselves and thinks leaving it with agents is easier. Is this the case, have any of you gone the private route?

Cheers,

Thank you for that La Vache.
I suppose I was asking more about the process of a private sale and is it more difficult than with using an agent?
How do you go about the compris, who would instruct the inspection reports?

I look forward to hearing any personal experience.

Bella, find a reliable notaire and take advice from him/her. A good notaire will ease your passage through a private sale and tell you and your buyers everything you need to know. Try to use a notaire who has been recommended to you, some are more helpful than others.

Our notaire (husband and wife team) have worked quietly and proactively behind the scenes putting our sale together and, thanks to them, it's been pretty straightforward so far.

Don't foget to shop around for your own inspectors reports devis - sometimes the ones the notaires advise you of are a lot more expensive!
