No cheques in Belgium?

Post by Goosey »

We have a potential guest who has asked how to pay and has said that belgians don't have cheques. Is this true? I can't believe it myself, so could someone enlighten me?

it's a while since I lived there (some 10 years!) but they were one of the first countries to have chip and pin - as they had it back then so it wouldn't suprise me if they now don't have cheques at all.

I was once paid by a form of Post Office Money Order in euro from France, which worked very well. I was able to cash it at the Post Office with no difficulties. They may well have the same in Belgium.

We don't have cheques in Germany either. Everything is done by bank transfer. Online or at the bank.
