Just found this group through work, we had some office equipment we wanted rid of and were happy if someone just came and collected it. The site is www.freecycle.org . You do have to join to be a member of the group. It is international so search for a group near you.

You can post stuff you want to get rid of and there is a wanted section too. Only criteria - it has to be free! This is where my stuff that won't sell on ebay will be going. On the Newcastle group there's Ikea wardrobes, kids bikes, car parts and all sorts of other items. May be useful for those of us who like to change our rental contents but consider the old stuff too good to throw out.
