Re: PIMS alternative

I too am looking for an alternative to PIMS having used it since 2015, I see Bookalet is mentioned as a possible replacement. I did try Bookalet back then when I was starting out, but I didn't like it. That said having looked at it again for the first time since then, it seems to have moved on quite...

Re: Agent takeover

Thanks Zebedee, I'm sure we can and will be able market ourselves and manage bookings ourselves. The agent had become a real nuisance this year trying to charges us for the most ridiculous things, when guests had damaged the property. They would rather be in the guests good books and make us pay for...

Agent takeover

We have had a holiday let for over 10 years during this time we have used two agents. Both agents have worked in harmony and we have maximised our bookings. In July one of the agents said that they had sold their business to another larger agent. The larger agent does not take damage deposits and do...

Similar problem

We had a review no comment but 4 star, I had no problem with that but then a day later a photo was posted by the same person but the photo was not our place even though it says it was. I flagged it up with google who took no action as it appears they do nothing. Now I have commented saying did you s...

Period of grace question

Yes, you can only make a period of grace election if you have already met the criteria. We could not meet the requirements in our first year, as I am sure a lot of holiday lets can't, because you are just beginning and you have not had many guests. There won't be any repeat business, in our first ye...

Home Away Rates Editor

Have used Owners Direct for several years, didn't like the service charge they introduced, but now the final straw. Since changing to Home Away they have introduced a new Rates Editor, which has to be the most user confusing piece of software I have ever seen. I can no longer list weekly rates and a...

I've had at least two of these messages and I have said yes in the hope that the travellers might be interested. They are genuine. I don't think they did bring in extra business though.

Thank you for your comments. I will contact the management company and find out the exact details of the buildings insurance in respect of public liability and advise them that we are letting the property. I am not against paying extra premium if required as long as we are covered as claims could be...

Public liability insurance - buildings or contents conundrum

We own a flat let for holidays and pay buildings insurance as part of our management charge. In May when we first started letting I took out contents cover from our broker by phone, as we already had another property with them it was easy to an add it on to the existing policy. Last week the broker ...

Thanks for your comments I hadn't even spotted the blind copy until you pointed that out.

What made me think it was a scam was the spelling of bellow wrong twice and other silly mistakes. The whole email just didn't ring true.
