I thought that the couple in the photo look out of place, and would vote for removing them. The beds in the twin room look narrow in the photo, as though they might be 2ft 6 width rather than full size 3ft singles. I couldn’t see any text description that clarified this and it might be worth adding....

When we were with an agency they paid us for a stay the month after it had taken place. We did get a small amount before that- the deposit (33% of the rental cost) less the agency’s fees (20% plus VAT).
Combined with their very expensive fees for cleaning etc we are much better off without them.

She sounds like a horrible, rude scammer. Most of the supposed problems are trivial. If the fridge wasn’t working then any normal person would have told you at the time, the fridge is presumably fine now or you would know about it. Don’t refund any more than your goodwill gesture and don’t worry abo...

It’s difficult to generalise. I guess your willingness to take the booking might depend on if you’re nearby to keep an eye on things (and they know that’s the case). We had a group of young people that looked like they might have been a concern- boy racer type cars and baseball caps on backwards etc...

If you will be aiming at being dog/walker/cyclist friendly it’s worth thinking about practical flooring and maybe a utility area/drying room to cope with wet clothing and dogs. Upside down living can be good to benefit from views etc. Our guests comment positively on the spacious bedrooms with ensui...

It looks good, and nice to have a light hearted and individual feel to the website.
Might be worth reviewing the prices for 1st December to 31st March- currently showing as £0 per week- I see those are booked out though so won’t be a problem and I guess probably deliberate.

It looks a lovely place and I liked the animal cams.

On the home page it should say "if you're looking for" not your.

Will bear you in mind if we're coming to Devon.

Safety lights

We have the quantek 3 in 1 lights from Amazon, I think they were recommended on here.
They come on in a power cut and also have a night light option.
The torches fit in a cup but don't need to be orientated so not much to break.

Fake listing on "Craigslist"

Not an email scam but I was surprised to the see the photos and details for my property and several others in St Ives on the Craigslist Cardiff website. They don't seem very sophisticated scammers as they have all the properties on a google map as being located in Cardiff rather than St Ives. I've o...

I think that a regional page would have some advantages- potentially more networking for owners, and being smaller it would be possible to combine more overt holiday rental promotion type posts with chat and information that would be useful for holiday makers.
I would be interested in joining.

I was wondering about a scam although couldn't see how it would work, or possibly a message generated by TA checking for owners deflecting enquiries to their own website. I did this yesterday. The offer to pay the full amount up front rather than deposit then balance was maybe too good to be true bu...

Odd Tripadvisor query from Anna O

Had the following message "Dear Rachel. I would like to stay at your property from April 27-May 6th. If it is all right we would like to pay by bank transfer. The credit cards we have are in Euros or USD. The bank transfer from our account in Pounds would be the cheapest and most convenient opt...

Thanks Casscat,

That's a good point- I met some potential guests today who asked a similar question.

Website review please.

Hi,

I've just published our website and would be grateful for any comments. I've been doing a lot of lurking on the forum for the past few months and have hopefully learned a bit from the regular posters to whom I'm grateful.

Thanks

Rachel

PIMS- referral code

Hi,

Having had a look at freetobook and the PIMS trial version, the latter looks good value.
Would someone be able to give me a referral code?

Thanks
Rachel
