I have now reached my target weight :D .

I've lost 2 stone in total, and more than 8" off my waist.

I now weigh less than I did before I had children (and my eldest is 14 this year).

Now all I have to do is keep it off.

Just spotted this thread. I've not been around for a while, but I have been doing 5:2. I'm 12 kg down (26lbs) and feeling great. Like LV I just eat in the evenings on fast days. I started of with 3 small meals, but it is much easier to just do one meal. I have more energy, am more movtivated, I've e...

Congratulations Debbie. Our application still hasn't gone in for various reasons, but the delay has meant that we will have been here for ten years in April so the police check won't be needed.

As soon as the current renovation job is finished I'm going to get on with it.

You can't use the same dish for both UK and French sat TV as they need to point to different satellites. So you either use TNT and the dish for UK Free sat, or buy 2 satellite dishes. I've been looking into this for our house as our french TV signal is so rubbish, and I think it is possible to do b...

I was told not to use grout on a shower floor for that reason. We used a special resin which stands up to the wear well, but was a pig to do.

I have one tiled shower floors and lots of shower trays. In terms of cleaning the shower trays win hands down.

From my experience at booking the festive period (and we are not a million miles from you) the market is almost completely French. And the French are unlikely to stay a full week at Christmas as they don't get a week off work. Boxing day is a normal working day. New year is actually much more popula...

Great photos, especially the first one. It is easily as good as the many horse posters my daughter has on her wall.

Hi Hobbo Put it this way, I think I might have found my next holiday destination. I think your place looks great. The only constuctive critisim I have is the font size. On the front page I find the font too small, then on some other pages (the About page in particular) you have 2 different font size...

Careful with the results - in the UK you can get 40 weeks without munch difficulty, in France it is almost unheard of (waits for LV to tell me she booked 45 :))

My advice is (and has always been) do your budget based on a 12 week season. If you can't survive on a 12 week season then the project isn't viable. You may well get 18-20 weeks once up and running, but the extra 6-8 weeks will be off season weeks and therefore not great in terms of income. These we...

We have one gite that changes on a Friday. I think people in general prefer the Saturday, but we have had no great problems with bookings. The exception to this is Spring bank half term week, which for the first time ever was empty in that gite. It does open up the weekend market, which has been luc...

You have the cheque as a deposit, so I would cash the cheque. It is not your business who wrote the cheque. I hate things like the pool button breaking, as how can you proove it wasn't already faulty, or that it was wear and tear (nothing lasts forever afterall)? And IMO if bedding isn't locked up t...

I wouldn't hesitate to put your prices up for that week. If you are worried about overocupancy then up the security deposit and make it clear that overocupancy forfeits the deposit. I personally don't worry too much about over occupancy. I don't think it really costs us more to have an extra body ar...

I had difficulty finding travel insurance as a French resident, all the UK based stuff won't touch you if you are French resident. We contacted our house insurance people in France and it turns out that we are already covered for medical emergencies etc. But not the cost of the holiday. Covering the...
