Well we're also at the end of our first season and we have had a great year. Delayed building works got us late on the market in March and we were busy pretty much from the start. We have had (mostly) great guests who have treated the cottage with respect and care. Lots of really great reviews and c...

Hi Henny We have the same problem in our cottage in the Cotswolds. We wanted a landline phone for guests to use in emergencies, and for ourselves to use when we occasionally make use of the cottage. We rent our place a lot to overseas guests who often want to call back home. We therefore found a gre...

We have had a lot of bookings via Booking.com and have generally found them to be fine. We use them to take payments for their bookings and this, too, has worked out well. The only thing I wish they would do that they don't is to manage damage deposits and damage deposit refunds. They won't do this ...

We have had a similar challenge recently and we did pretty much exactly what Giraffe suggested. We have an arrangement with a local pub/ hotel whereby in some circumstances they help us out with lunches/ drinks and luggage storage when needed in emergencies etc. In our recent example, some excellent...

Luckily the past 24 hours has passed by without further incident and I am hoping we are on the 'home strait'. I understand they managed to book their train tickets for tomorrow when they leave (they couldn't book them online as the local station doesn't have one of those machines to collect tickets ...

First challenging guests of the season...
So far this season's guests have been great with no major traumas, incidents or unreasonable demands. However, the trend has abruptly changed with our current guests. First, they arrived for their 3 night stay two and a half hours before the agreed check in time and demanded access to the property. ...

I use 'Bookalet' now which imports all bookings made via other channels (including HA/OD, Booking.com, TA/HL, ABNB etc). It offers Stripe integration for payments and some great management features. Also has a good calendar and booking system to integrate with your own website. I've also used 'freet...

PIMS referral code
Hi All
I'm going to bite the bullet and start using PIMS for managing bookings via my own website. Has anyone got a referral code?
thanks

Re: Keyless door locks
From a quick scan of the info on their website I get the impression that certainly some of them are a straightforward swap for an existing Yale type lock - is that what you found or did it need a fair bit of work? Both 5i and 6i RemoteLocks are quite easy to fit if you have basic tools. The 5i is a...

Keyless door locks
I have just installed RemoteLocks Smarlocks on both our front and rear doors of our holiday cottage. They are wi-fi enabled which allows you to set multiple guest access codes which only become active between your chosen check in/ out dates and times. They work really well, guests love them and so f...

Great feedback - thanks
Thank you all for such amazing feedback - really helpful. We've made most of the changes suggested now to the web site and removed our external booking partners from the 'Book Now' page, replacing instead with a direct booking via freetobook. As suggested, we've removed the local information from th...

Hello
We have just launched our holiday cottage in Moreton in Marsh (Cotswolds) on the World. I'd be really pleased for any comments on our first stab at a web site (www.moretoncottage.co.uk).
All comments, feedback and suggestions gratefully received.
thanks
