I don’t know the brand you refer to, but I tried a singer 2 steam press. It ironed beautifully but it was far too small a table for bedding. Plus the ‘throat’ at the rear of the iron didn’t open far enough to take a double sheet at the back, so you could pull it through bit by bit. I’d bought it fro...

Hi, I went through the same trauma! Because the Zip Link beds make up into a superking, the size is that much longer. King size beds are longer too. ( it’s great for longer length guests though). It’s not a problem when they are made up as a superking, using superking size sheets. They fit well, as ...

I have 2 sets of zip and link beds, which each make into a superking. I use a waterproof mattress cover on the bottom, with a padded mattress cover from Dunelm on the top. I have regularly slept in both sets myself, and it seems fine. I did originally have sets of quilted fabric mattress toppers (fr...

I’m with Blue River and so far this year, despite having great reviews, have a grand total of 2 weeks booked. I think it’s been taken over and just isn’t what it was. I’m on the cusp of selling up.

Hi, it is a minefield isn’t it? Most of the domestic bedding can only be washed at 40 degrees, which isn’t hot enough to get absolutely everything out, so that’s why all mine is commercial bedding and can be washed at 90 degrees, though usually it’s done at 60. I’ve tried items from various supplier...

I agree with you that the cost of bedding comes as a shock, and also at just how much of it is needed. It was a very steep learning curve! However believe that because it’s so important that guests sleep well then it’s worth making things as clean and as comfortable as possible. I have pillow protec...

I offer that option too Lelly. Thought it would be popular but in reality folk have preferred the Superking duvet option.

Whilst it’s not mandatory, I think the 60 degrees is the recommended temperature for a clean wash to ensure any body fluids/ fats are washed out of the fabrics. I always wash mine at 60 degrees ( and sometimes 90 degrees) for that reason, after doing some research into the subject. 40 degrees just i...

We decided to go with fibre duvets after doing a little poll. Feather and down definitely came out as a no no due to both allergies and the difficulty of keeping them clean. After trying various suppliers we found that Marks and Spencer do some brilliant duvets, made from micro fibre and exceptional...

I had gorgeous throws to start with but the washing was costing a fortune. (I’m a bit OCD with bedding so tend to wash it all a lot.) I looked at the bed runners that Mitre do, but the thought of them ending up on the floor then going back on the bed, or being left for several guests, really freaked...

Appreciate this thread is several months now, but having recently had three babies staying, and just done a review of travel cots for an online magazine, thought this might be helpful. I reviewed 12 different travel cots, with an example of each to test. Some were very expensive (eg Baby Bjorn, over...

I needed a washing machine for my holiday let, so went to Currys and told them I wanted a washing machine that had a good load size, a fast spin, and a reasonably fast wash at 60 degrees, so I could do a few items during changeover. They sold me a Beko saying it had a 9kg load, a 1400 rpm spin speed...

Managing filled bedding

Just getting to grips with managing and rotating the bedding. I wash normal sheets etc at 60 degrees (which is too hot for most fitted sheets, hence why I have flat ones) but think I might be washing the filled bedding, like duvets and pillows, too much. Each pillow has on it a pillow protector, an ...

My zip and link beds have arrived! Thank you for all the feedback above which has been very helpful in making decisions - no more memory foam mattresses for a start. I thought you might like an update, as I bought 2 sets, one for each large bedroom. They have spring interior 1000 pocket spring mattr...

I was asked to review travel cots for an online magazine, and was sent a selection to try ( like Nuva, Joie, Baby Bjorn, and Phil and Teds Traveller). First problem of course was putting most of them up. Didn’t know then that you do the sides first and then click down the centre bit in the middle of...
