Shared entrances and lockdown lifting

My local environmental health have told my cleaner that they and the police will be actively seeking holiday accommodation with shared entrances which open when the lockdown lifts in England in April and issuing fines of up to £1,000. My booking agent tells me this is only Guidance and is not legisl...

We have it on the ceiling, next to the smoke alarm. It’s in the main living room/kitchen. You can’t walk into the room without passing under it, and it is pretty unobtrusive so guests don’t notice it.

Hi Kate Ask me any questions, I really like it. I was at the Short Stay Show in London last year and saw it demonstrated and was impressed. You can set parameters for when to be alerted, eg when the noise or humidity or temperature goes above a certain level, or if there is movement when there shoul...

We’ve had a Minut Point for nearly a year. I can check when guests arrive and leave, when the cleaners have been in and I get alerts when the management company have tested the fire alarms. All good.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond. It turns out the booking is for a party of 2, but the apartment is always made up for 4. I’ve politely explained that they will have double the normal amount and will be replaced with the same every Friday, so they can just swap them themselves mid...

It is not that far. I know i used to live in Hampshire and went to see family in N.Devon, before the North Devon Link Road was built. Not that far is actually a 380 mile trip, costing £90 in petrol and taking minimum 7 hours. A bit unrealistic for dropping off beach towels  I originally posted...

I’m in Hampshire, the apartment is in Devon, so I can’t just run over with some extras. I pay £33 to get the towels and linen laundered each week and rang the cleaners this morning to give them a heads-up that these guests might be quite demanding. They laughed, and were grateful for the info, but n...

Yes, i stated in my email to them they are entitled to the usual weekly changeover of linens and towels and cleaning, so I’m not saving anything by having a three week booking. They’re asking for additional mid-week towels.

I really don’t won’t to provide a second set, I think if I did they would end being used as beach towels and get trashed. It’s the busiest time of year, I’ll check at a more reasonable time, but I’m not sure she’ll want the extra hassle of unexpected work. Perhaps if she is willing I could get them ...

Request for additional towel changes

We use an agency for bookings and who organise all the payments, etc, but I usually email or text the guests a few days before arrival to introduce myself (offsite owner). We have a family coming from overseas for three weeks, the first time this has happened, and I put in the email that they will ge...

Thank you to everyone who has replied, it's really helped. The original agent was pretty high end, and had actually given us lots of advice on how to furnish it to attract the right clientele, but I think they must have just seen a lovely takeover fee from Sykes and lost sight of their original etho...

Letting agent takeover

We've had an offer accepted on a high end apartment in North Devon. We've been in discussions with a local agent since the start, but nothing signed yet. They're offering 15% for 2017 and 18% for 2018, or 16% until end of 2018 as we won't get to market until early summer this year. Yesterday I got a...
