I certainly don't think they're shysters - it really seems that they bring the most listings to owners. I would however love to see them improve the look/feel of the interface...it's dreadful. I really think the key to their success is name recoginition. Most renters that I've spoken with think VRBO...

Very impressive site design. I too noticed some slow loading pages but not slow enough to be annoying. I love the fonts, layout and text content. Some general suggestions: * It would be cool if the color of the sky in the image titled "nature" matched that of "nurture". The vast ...

I agree that VRBO isn't a pretty website - very Web 1.0. However it does generate a fair amount of traffic/bookings (second only to our local Chamber of Commerce).

VRBO - More Photos Doesn't Exactly Improve Ranking

Hi, I recently upgraded my VRBO listing from the standard 3 photos to a total of 10 photos. This will cost an additional $168 usd per year for a total ad rate of around $320. The good news: out of 34 listings in my city, my listing moved from 33 to 9 (my only reason for more photos). The bad news: w...

Wow, if the problem is with F5's backend security then I don't see much that you as a customer could do to prevent future problems. If they won't articulate what's been done to prevent it from happening again, I'd be tempted to find another host :-(

Hacked Site.

Was your domain forwarded to another website? Or was the offending content actually created on your webserver? Either way I think the answer might be to create strong passwords and change them frequently. 1) If your domain was forwarded to another website: I would suggest changing the password you u...

Ah yes

Now the PR1 & PR3 makes sense. In the first several months of being live my site was burried in google results. Over time it's moved up to about 60 for my main keywords...even at that who really scrolls down below 30 in a list of results :-( The only thing I can attribute the improvement to is t...

Neohero, Ahhh Umbria...home to Sagrantino Di Montefalco...one of my favorite wines of the World. Hi Catherine, Thank you for the review. Now that you mention it, the location of the Home link disturbs me too! In the next revision I'll move it to the upper-left. On the next sunny day I'll to take another round of photos, both interior & exterior. I'll also explore some ways of making them la...

Myspace is a great website...if you want to learn what type of fun your neighborhood kids are havng :-) I believe the vast majority of Myspace regulars are between 17 - 25 years old. What a great looking place, I love the interior finish. I also like the artistic angles on many of your photos. Your Eating Out page is great. I appreciate the fact that you describe the atmosphere as well as the menu. As a potential renter, seeing such a thoughtful report on area restaurants would ...

Great input, thank you!

I appreciate all of the comments and suggestions. I agree that the photos should be larger and display more of the exterior. While very nice looking in person, the exterior isn't highly photogenic, thus I've been having a rough time getting exterior shots that I like. I really like the idea of takin...
