I only ask because coastal Costa del Sol with all your requirements can be a bit grim. I'm not really sure why you find it grim? The coast is not for everyone, but it is what Badger is after. I suggest around the Torremolinos/Carihuela/Benalmadena borders. Plenty of life and on a good route for bus...

I don't think so...it just seems to back up the experience I've had and others I know, including 2 spanish owned villas I managed and my spanish neighbours place. Plus we lived opposite a rental apartment for 6 yrs when we first lived here and I can tell you that although it was a sleep 4 with no s...

+ 1 for salmon cottage and Felicity. As many of you old timers know, I was once a more active member, but now I no longer rent, I have been a lurker for quite a few years. I have always enjoyed this form, spats and all, but the vitriol coming from a number of members has shocked me! I have two homes...

Although I don't rent any more, I rented my spanish apartment for seven years to English guests. In all that time, I never had a problem and I was very low tech! I would put the keys in a self adressed and stamped jiffy bag, then pop the jiffy bag into an A5 envelope to post to the guest. I t...

I've got both and far prefer my fixed overhead shower with slider attachment. If I don't want to get my hair wet, I wear a shower cap. It's especially nice in the winter as more of my body goes under the water, whereas the slider shower has a much smaller circumference

I'm with Casscat on this one. Just look at the reviews on Trip Advisor to see how many bad reviews there are with a lot of these companies. Helle Hollis definitely comes up trumps, totally transparent and hassle free. Another good company are malagacar.com. They are both direct hires (not through br...

Yes is is a bit nerve racking the first time you use on-line exchanges, but you will get used to them very quickly and not bother with banks once you've done it. I used to use Hifx and they are extremely efficient, rates good and free if sending a large amount. For smaller amounts I also use Currenc...

thanks!! will double check my Visa card company for sure. I didn't know you could get yearly excess coverage - any particular company you would recommend for that? It does seem economical. I have always used: http://www.insurance4carhire.com/ but someone told me about this company, which I will use...

Joddle, thanks so much for all this information. I'm the same as Vera re loss of channels. I'm further down the coast near Malaga. I only have freeview and have lost all channel 5 channels. Sorry I can't tell you the size of the dish because I'm piggy-backed off my neighbour's dish ..... after mine ...

Like all washing machines, you can get a rogue

My last one in Spain was a Beko, it came with the apartment when we bought it so was already second hand and I think we had it about another 7 years so we certainly did well out of it :)

It allows for 10/12 day bookings as well- the standard 1/2 weeks doesn't suit everybody. Which reminded me that when our children were small we always opted for 10/12 days away. One week never seemed long enough and two weeks was too expensive as we were quite cash strapped at the time. It could wo...

We haven't given them a discount. There is a washing machine, but no dryer, so with the weather being what it is they won't be able to get anything dry, so I will definitely be bringing the fresh linen and towels over once a week. Yes I would agree with what you are doing Val. There is a great diff...

Re: washing machine or dishwasher and a few more questions

...... However it is advertised as a 2 bed because the upstairs loft room has been converted but does not comply with building regs in that is has no fire door and limited ceiling height (suitable only for children or very small adults!) could this still be let as a 3 bed holiday let? I personally ...

..... and if they have been only used for 'clean' wiping they can be quickly dried in the sun. If they are staying longer than a week they always use the washing machine and can stick them in there with whatever they are washing. I always assumed tea towels were just for 'clean wiping' eg if the wa...
