A word of warning, be careful if you receive an enquiry or telephone call from that has 'Tailor Made Travel' or 'Taylor Made Travel' in it's email address. It's an individual or group of people who are trying to scam owners. Whilst I am sure they are companies with this name that are not scammers I ...

I can't answer anything apart from Jim's question about adtrader magazine; the price depends whereabouts in the UK you advertise, ie.. which region, also what style of classified ad you place, i.e. all text, or text with border etc. An example though it cost me £28 for 4 issues for an classified ad...

Classified ad newspapers
I know alot of them are regional based but I used a company called adtrader which distributes all over the UK, brought a good response.
Has anyone had any luck in advertising in free classified ad newspapers? If so, which ones?
Cheers,
Darren

If you want to check if the email you are sending is "likely" to get picked up by the spam filters visit this website.
I've not used it for ages, but it's in my favourites and might help you to assess if spam filters is one of your problems.

I hear this from rental listing owners, and it sounds as if they believe it is their divine right to have a site with thousands of advertisers. Marketing costs money. There are plenty of legitimate ways to market a service, so why not use them? Paolo, it's not difficult to get a listing of thousand...

if I want something I'll reseach, go looking and make an informed decision based on what I've found Soodyer, I think it's great that owners do that, and like Paolo mentioned in one of his newsletters, it's best to go searching on Google and pretend your a holidaymaker looking for your property. I c...

Just to back up Alan's comment.. the AVG virus checker is excellent, and it's free. I use it over any other paid virus checking software that you can buy in the shops. With regard to bogus enquiries, if I was receiving them I'd be wondering why the company / website had time to make up bogus enquiri...

advertising emails - friendly or spam?
Hello folks, I didn't know where to put this post, so Paolo, please feel free to move it to a better category. What are your feelings on emails (or telephone calls) from holiday rental companies about advertising your property with them? I promote my dad's apartment in Spain, and find that sites tha...

Even though I don't agree about owners receiving marketing emails from HR companies (I market my dad's apartment so I can understand why people get miffed!) but I've read that because the email is business to business it is not breaking any UCE regulations either in the US or in Europe. Also everyon...

Interhomes also have 'travel agent' style bases in various countries. So not only are you getting enquiries via it's website but your getting bookings from people visiting a destination and looking for a rental. They also have a commission style scheme too, so your property isn't just on the interho...

Yes, these type of scams are circling rental websites, and have been for a while now. You should be extra cautious when receiving enquiries, tell tale signs are; - Bad written english - Payment to be made in Western Union / Cashier cheques - Appear to want to rush through payment - Offer to send mor...

Hi Moira, you could try www.nochex.co.uk - basically you sign up and receive a free account, you give potential holidaymakers the address of your account on nochex and they simply pay by credit card and this money is deposited to your account. You can then transfer the money into your bank account, ...
