I can't answer anything apart from Jim's question about adtrader magazine; the price depends whereabouts in the UK you advertise, ie.. which region, also what style of classified ad you place, i.e. all text, or text with border etc. An example though it cost me £28 for 4 issues for an classified ad...

I know alot of them are regional based but I used a company called adtrader which distributes all over the UK, brought a good response.

Has anyone had any luck in advertising in free classified ad newspapers? If so, which ones?

If you want to check if the email you are sending is "likely" to get picked up by the spam filters visit this website.

I've not used it for ages, but it's in my favourites and might help you to assess if spam filters is one of your problems.
