Re: Items going missing

We have many items disappear - including duvets, electric converter plugs, cutlery, special trivets, CD's, DVDs etc.
We don't charge a deposit as it would cost us more for our caretaker to check everything than the value of the items taken.
We just replace when items are taken.

Re: Enquiries for France

Our gite is in Brittany. The last couple of Covid years have been dreadful, but bookings are now picking up and our revenue and bookings this year will be the best since 2019. The latest news regarding Frech strikes/blockades are not good and may put off more potential bookers. Our own ferry to Fran...

Hi Mark, We have Orange France and have used them for six years at least. We agree that wifi is essential and we don't charge any extra for it. We don't control it... and don't want to! It's never been an issue or a problem. Can you go with an unlimited download provider if you think the issue may a...

Does anyone know...on the new OD site do you need to update your availability to appear at the top of the listings? On the old site it wasn't the case, the listings per area were rotated regularly regardless of availability updates. When I did a search for a town on the new site I had listings from...

I agree with Essar's comments; it is very subjective and geographic location and property type are all important. It may not be possible to achieve 70% occupancy in your area or for your property type, no matter how many sites you list with. For my own circumstances, we managed 69% occupancy last ye...

This is what HL say about ad positioning: Advert positions in search results We rotate all the adverts on a daily basis, so yours will be appearing in a different position every day. We also find that people tend to search for specific dates and facilities, as well as smaller resorts. This means tha...

Yes, what a shambles! This whole thing is very poorly thought out. The very cheap hand-held devices are too unreliable/insensitive to be an accurate measure of actual bood alcohol levels, and levels will continue to rise in the body, depending on when the last drink was consumed. This means upon lea...

If the chance of a full week booking are reasonable (previous experience/agents advice etc) then decline the offer of 2 nights.

If the likelyhood of a full week booking is slim then go for the two nights.

Peyre Blanque, we have had some great VRBO bookings from Australians, Canadians and Americans. In face PIMs tells me that they are now responsible for 47% of our enquiries, 26% of our bookings, and 38% of our revenue. Now there is no guarantee that they will work as well for you in the South of Fran...

NC, I can email you their 3MB SuperUser Guide if you like! I think their commission only offer is very reasonable. That's my worry, it's too good and their commission will probably go up in time. However, at their current 3% rate I come out ahead on this deal (over paying £299 for an advert) if I bo...

Can anyone recommend a way of doing this so that people can post their own reviews? At the moment we just photocopy all the entries from our guest book and add it to our website. Re: How can I take payments from outside the UK?

If residents outside the UK booked with me should they be able to pay by bank transfer into my account? I think so. We offer a choice of payments by bank transfer into either our UK a/c in Pounds or French a/c in Euros. Some prefer bank transfers. Do they have to pay additional charges? Usually, ye...
