Thanks Zebedee. The underwriters are Ecclesiastical who were involved in the original court case but did not form part of the appeal. We'll get on it.

Recent insurance judgment in Supreme Court

Hi all. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts/experiences around loss of income insurance following the recent Supreme Court judgment? We have insurance with Boshers which makes it very clear on their website that they didn't and don't cover cancellations due to Covid-19 as it isn't on the list ...

We had come up with a system whereby we would retain the guest's deposit for them to use at another time within the next 18mths. The two bookings who cancelled earlier in the week were fine with that. Neither had travel insurance. I don't think it's at all fair for the hosts to take the hit because ...

ABB are now giving full refunds to all guests who cancel, regardless of any prior cancellation policy.

This policy, which no doubt Homeaway will follow, shows complete disregard for the rental owner. It proposes that a renter will be fully reimbursed if they are unable to travel due to a government-level travel advisory or restriction. But this is the same condition under which travel insurance will...

It definitely self generates. My husband got an iPad recently and I logged into Gmail on it for the first time when we were away from home. Gmail prompted me for a verification code straight away which turned up immediately on my phone. It is all a bit more laborious if you have a Blackberry. I'm st...

The first time you log into Gmail on any computer, you will get a text with a code that you need to use. So when you next go to Spain, the same thing will happen as when you set it up on your regular computer. Hope that makes sense. To get the idea, just try logging into Gmail on someone else's comp...

The attempt I reported the other day was also hosted by Dreamhost. No information is available for the owner of the domain (it has a similar name - sslmailserver2.com).

I think you should be OK if you change to the 2 step verification option in gmail. This is the page: https://plus.google.com/settings/ It means that they will text you an access code with which to log in when you use a different computer for the first time. It will probably affect your mobile if you...

Gmail phishing PLEASE READ!!!!

I just had another attempt to access my gmail account details as a result of an enquiry from Holiday Rentals. I only just noticed that it wasn't genuine at the last minute. This is the email I received in response to my reply to an enquiry through H-R: Gmail Alert: Message not displayed correctly To...

Scammer email - bank details, possible gmail hacker etc

Just had this one in my inbox from rafaelmuller49 @yahoo.com with the subject line "apartment boking deposit": Hi, I'm Dave brother, he asked me to send the deposit for your property from my bank account, so he can book your apartment faster. I have attached you the bank printscreen. Pleas...

It's a shame that they don't also focus on it from our side (although I appreciate that's less interesting to the general public). And it annoys the hell out of me that their guidance to avoid being scammed (as a holiday maker) is to always pay for your holiday rental by credit card. Trip Advisor sa...

A worrying story indeed. To show what a crazy world we live in, if your "friends" had removed him with a size 10 boot up his backside, the law would have been there in minutes, probably on the side of Mr Scam! Indeed! Luckily, they knew what they were doing and knew not to touch hi...
