holiday home swap

We have just spent a successful week in beautiful Brittany exporing the coast and enjoying the amazing weather. It was just something that came up and yes they will be coming to our gite in summer peak rate £300 but to be honest our gite is secondary income anyway and due to work commitments it was ...

dangers

The one thing I do warn about are vipers/adders re people wandering off into the undergrowth/countryside in sandals-I keep the immediate area round the property mowed so in theory thats not a problem, it just makes them a bit more careful with 'holiday mentality' It's also a guide to know if people ...

peacock moth

Thanks Elena I'm pretty sure we have the same type of moth! I tried to load tha photo onto my website but I think it was too big. For your information, I saw mine in the countryside near Chef Boutonne, Deaux Sevres, (79).

I couldn't believe how un-timid (is that a word?) it was!

emperor moth?

Thanks guys It's definitely not a humming bird hawk moth-we have those too so I know what they're like - this particular moth is about 6 inches across both wings (absolutely huge) and stayed quite still hanging on to a leaf

I'd be happy to send WOL a photo

is this an emperor moth?

Out for a walk yesterday, gosh another day off! and spotted this giant moth clinging to a young tree. It's the size of an adult hand, grey brown mottled, with eye style spots on each wing and wavy orangy zig zags. Anybody know their stuff on these? :? -I can send pictures. It's the 1st time I've see...

website review

Hi Paul Is there a chance you can put a thumbnail photo by the title of the house-I found that with the other photos at the top I just wanted to see the house that I was looking to rent. Try and improve the photo by opening the shutters and perhaps even dressing the balcony-just have a look at good ...

tax forms

Thanks Paolo I must qualify why I said they were unhelpful-the first year we had to fill out tax forms they were great and walked us through everything totally, the 2nd year we had a long uncomfortable wait and went home and copied the 1st years! I walked in this morning to find they'd had a refit i...

declaring gite income on personal tax form

Hello-long time since I've logged on I know, but I've been working about 90 hours a week for the last few months-and haven't had much time for browsing! I'm taking a day off today to try and sort out the tax forms. I have form 2042 and 2047 for declaring my husband's UK revenue as normal./ It's the ...
