Good idea Charollaise. Unfortunately the biggest problem is a sliding patio door and there aren't automatic closers for that. Maybe I could just fit a massive spring to shoot it closed .... like a guillotine !. Even for a hinged doors the auto closers are easily defeated by a rock but I like your th...

I agree so it's a question of finding a reasonable balance. I have had no negative comments since fitting the timers. I don't think it's unreasonable for the air cons to operate for a maximum of 2 hours before having to press a button again. We also fitted remote control ceiling fans so we bend over...

Many thanks Richard but I was aware of these but haven't taken the plunge yet as I could see some possible issues with them. every solution has it's pros and cons. At the moment I have a key-fob type system and I later added a timer switch on each ACU which gives them power for either 30 minutes / 1...

A/C door open switch-off
I have been hunting around for a system which will turn off Air Con when a door is left open. These are used in Hotels these days so they must be available for commercial applications but I haven't been able to find any advertised anywhere for domestic systems. No doubt there will be technical argum...

Thanks folks, all great food for thought. The situation I sometimes see is where similar properties advertised at similar rates for part of the year, but you can see vast differences for specific dates due to different high season dates being used. It's not necessarily a big issue. More digging and ...

How do you figure out what is high /low / mid season ?
If I sneak in quietly will anyone notice I haven't been around for a while  We have a place in Turkey and have been doing OK with rentals. I am looking at setting prices for next year so I'll do the usual and check comparable properties but I have never been able to find a conclusive way of de...

Thanks for the information Jenroy. I haven't seen these before and they are certainly easy to fit by the look of them. Have they been trouble free ? I guess the way people could disable these is simply to remove the batteries or remove the units !. Too bad they are so expensive, but given the way el...

Air Cons & economy (also 2 sets of keys )
We have a 3 bedroom villa in Turkey which has 5 Air Con units. We have a hotel type "Key fob" switch to activate the electricity so they can only be run when someone is in the Villa (at least that's the theory) The electricity key-fob is welded on the single set of guest keys (which brings...
