A big thank you for the replies. I have treated it as a serious request and quoted them a two week rate discounted by 10%. As others have pointed out we would lose a week because with a minimum stay of 7 days we would not be able to let the odd days. We normally do not offer discounts but would do i...

Thanks we have a similar policy. The guests are from America and I guess this is only part of their holiday and understand that travel cannot be aligned with our change over days. However the point that I could take issue with is the fact that their enquiry is for 8 days and they are looking for a d...

Is this a serious request

We have just received an enquiry for a stay in June. Our normal occupancy starts and ends on Saturdays so this is for an eight day stay starting on a Monday, which is not too unusual and we can consider. Now comes the all important question - Do we offer discounts for stays in excess of a week? Is t...

Well I cannot begin to understand Flipkey's reply as that is completely at odds with the following: - Dear Jennifer, I wanted to personally reach out to you with a unique opportunity to reactivate your account with FlipKey absolutely FREE for a full year. There is no catch to this offer and you will...

It does not indicate who are eligible however the email was from a Vanessa Ortman - vanessao at flipkey dot com and it may be worth an approach.

Flipkey renewal

We listed with Flipkey some time ago on a freeby, but when they implemented charges we decided not to continue. They have now come back and offered a years free listing, but with all of the changes with TA and HL I am wondering whether the effort would be worthwhile. Has anybody got anything good or...

I could be cynical in suggesting that perhaps that this, their first post, was targetted more for exposure than criticism.

If so it worked.

Rentability

I still receive stats from them, but because of total inactivity over the past 2 years have just deleted them.

So I just retreived the last ones and it shows 3 visits in the past month so the trend is good!!!!

Though Jenroy's links look very interesting, so clearly it can be done. Martha thank you for the mention, but I think it is Jenny C who needs the credit for providing the evidence!!! The subject is a good one as it reminds us of when we started and the same thought process was adopted - quality vs ...

Cancellation with a twist

It has not been the best of years for us, but for one of our guests it is a lot worse. Just to paint the picture - we are just recovering from dealing with the insurance company following a break in and theft of most of the contents of our villa. Together with the need for total excavation of the ar...

Lifestyleholidayrentals

A newbie arrived this morning via twitter. They do not appear to have any listings yet. This is a real start up venture with no cost to the owner, until you carefully read the T & C's where you agree to giving the 15% deposit with the site owners to cover the cost of the website. The appeal is s...

Martha, As you can gather I am very taken with your site and am trying to learn from it, but do not have the time to go throught it in detail and provide a comprehensive report so will report as I find. Your link to 'ski' on the first page goes to photos and the link to Brevant and Flegere goes to w...

Absolutely stunning site - I am just embarking on a Wordpress site (when I can transfer the hosting away from Godaddy) and if I can achieve 25% of this I would be pleased.

Just one small point - under travel the link to bus goes into a whoops!!!

But, if the watermark is too in your face, it's the viewer who will move on. This surely is the nub of the matter - HL are happy to insert their watermark, which looks to all appearances as a direct marketing ploy, however whilst the visitor to the site, brainwashed with the HL corporate ethos, wil...

Interesting Photos of long ago

I have just looked on these after visiting another forum and thought you would all appreciate the quality that was acheived over 100 years ago
