I only advertise and take bookings via Owners Direct and their various other sites, Homeaway etc. This time last year I had no bookings at all and yet this year I already have 8 including some low season ones. Still got a couple of peak weeks to fill but not really worried as these always do get boo...

Hi I have had this link sent to me about this petition to sign against the social tax - https://www.change.org/p/non-au-paiement-de-cotisations-sociales-pour-les-meubl%C3%A9s-de-tourisme-non-professionnels-stoparticle10plfss2017?recruiter=609588023&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copyli...

This is unfortunately not surprising, they are just desparate to make money! My listing is up for renewal soon so been looking at the terms and conditions to see what they say now, was surprised to see this - 4.9 HomeAway has no responsibility for or involvement in, the communications between the Ow...

One question I have about all this stuff to do with renewing your subscription before July 11th is about the gold/silver/bronze levels. Is there any advantage to renewing with a higher level but without online booking so your property gets listed higher in the results? After that you can only get th...

I got through to someone in the end and it turned out to be a "glitch" on my web browser! Possibly a deliberate one to then make me go on and put my info in for accepting online payments is my guess. They couldn't explain why I was being told I had signed up for them when it was clear I ha...

I am seriously unhappy with these changes but had thought I had managed to avoid signing up to taking online bookings. But just logged in to my Homelidays account and it first asked me to do the two step identification thing on a computer I use regularly and is already registered. It then told me th...

My advert with Chez Nous is also about to expire and I will not be renewing it - I have had only one enquiry in the last year from them which did not convert so it would be a waste of money for me.

Hi
I run a storage business just outside of Brighton, we are pretty full up at the mo but may be able to fit your stuff in!
Web site is here - www.the-inner-space.co.uk

Don't charge nearly as much as the big companies :)

Hi I have just had an enquiry for renting our two villas to railway workers for two months and I am trying to work out if this is a good idea and feasible.... Is there some possible problem with renting a furnished house longer term and the legal rights if tenants in France? Could be a good bit of i...

Hi, been trying to work out if this is relevant to inheritance tax - I think we were charged social charges when my father died in 2012 - in which case can we reclaim these?
I think its a good thing as it did seem very unfair to be charged these when not living there or benefiting from them!

Peak District/Yorkshire dog friendly in August

Hello I'm looking for a weeks rental to sleep three (1 adult, a teenager and a child) plus one small dog, can anyone on here recommend somewhere? Also there is a possibility of doing a swap for a week in our villa in France in June/September, it sleeps 8 - 10 and has a swimming pool, more info here ...

Water Bill Delay

Hi, We usually get our water bills from the local mairie in the summer, this year we didn't get them and when I emailed them about it last month they replied saying they are having problems with their local treasury and have not issued the bills yet. I don't think this is great service and I am worr...

Thank you that is all very useful. I am tempted to put something along the lines of if you do put dodgy stuff down the loo it will cost us thousands to put right and we will send you the bill!!
But that might be a bit extreme!
