Thanks. There's no doubt about - B&B is hard work and the time comes for another chapter in your life.

We sold in September and as Penny says, French estate agents were useless for us. We sold privately in the end; I made a 'for sale' website and we advertised in various places but found our buyer from our ad on the Acceuillir Magazine website. We sold to a French couple but had other European intere...

Happy belated retirement Pete. Baled out ourselves at the beginning of September so haven't been here for a while. If you're for sale, try putting your place on the Acceuillir Magazine website - that's how we found our buyer.

following with interest..love the free version BUT; It leaves me wondering whether Google Forms would be better - I've never used it but I know that it has no usage restrictions. Any opinions? I used to use Google forms on our website for a simple enquiry, but found it a real PIA (although maybe I'...

One last question, the email I received from the tax office made it sound like I only need to return a 2042C PRO but I see this is a supplementary declaration so do I also need to complete a full tax return? If you're fiscally resident - yes, there's the main one to do too, plus 2047K if you have a...

Thanks to both of you - that's lowered my level of alarm a bit! Excuse my great ignorance - what's SPF?

Think a previously used business email's been hacked

We have two domains for our website (.com and .fr) and used to use info@ourdomaindotfr for emails coming from our French website. We probably haven't used that email address for a couple of years, using the .com one for English and French enquiries instead. Over the last few days my personal email a...

Thanks for people's comments. I've been on the TA owners' forum and see that we're not the only B&B or hotel who's seen their rankling plummet over the last couple of weeks. It seems that TA are fiddling around with the algorithm....and if I could find a way through their endless minefield of an...

Individual bnbs really don't have a chance in hell when it comes to ranking on TA. That's just how it feels! We certainly don't pay Bdotcom anything other the lowest commission we can (15%) so don't have an enhanced ranking on their site although do have a good overall score from guests (9.4) and o...

Have Trip Advisor changed the way they rank properties?

Have just looked at our ranking on TA and see that we've slipped to being no 99 for the whole of the Limousin region, whereas before Christmas, when I last looked, we were in the top 10 of B&Bs in our region. Our last review was in November, we've nothing below very good and plenty of reviews to...

Have to say that we had exactly the same first email from the same person, which I thought smelt fishy, but I replied as our dates were free. She offered to settle by cheque, which to me was all the more suspicious. I replied asking for the first night's tariff by bank transfer, thinking that would ...

I'd echo FC's thoughts on private space in every sense of the word, wholeheartedly. I'd also add, on a practical note, that you should never underestimate what can find its way through to your expensive mattresses so invest in great mattress protection! I'm sure it's been discussed many times here. ...
