Copying Websites

I had the same problem. 2 people have copied the information sections of our own website (not just a listing add). Very annoying but absolutely nothing we can do.

Bookings

Very strange year for us - one property is very popular - 27 weeks booked and counting (www.chateaudelaplace.com) the other slower than previous years although not a disaster (www.fontremy.com). August booked but not as good as usual in June/July/September. They do cater for different markets and we...

name

Hi Jenny

In the end we decided we would change it to avoid the hassle. Our notaire seemed to think we may have a problem so we have taken the route of least resistance.

Thanks for your interest.

Management

Hi Susan

Thanks for your response. Yes, I've approached a couple of people using that website and intend to post an ad.

Gite Management Required in Charente Maritime (17)

Does anyone know of anyone who may be interested (or are themselves interested) in managing 4 gites on the same site in Charente Maritime just outside Mortagne-Sur-Gironde (south of Royan)? Our current managers are moving away so we need to find someone else.
Thanks

Also having problems with Rentcalendar. Has anyone had a response from them or are you now back up and running. Will have to change to someone else if they don't sort it soon, which will be a real pain.

What's in a name

Pauline, my feelings exactly. However, I don't want to incur legal costs in proving it!

Link should work now. Don't know why I was so coy with the name - it's Chateau Pierre Henri Simon (Chateau Simon for short).

Diespute over Property Name - Advice Please

We purchased a property in the Charente Maritime 2 years ago. It's the main house in the village (a big manor house or debatably a chateau) and we decided to name it after a famous (allegedly) French writer who was born and brought up in the house and whom the village square on which the house sits ...

Bikers

We had an interesting experience earlier this year. We had an enquiry from the Suzuki owners club to take over all our gites (32 in total). We considered it carefully but declined the booking because we were concerned at the noise of so many bikes disturbing our neighbours. I am of a certain age and...

Calendars

I used to use Availcheck but it has a problem if you have too many hits on your calendar - you then have to pay. Now use Rentcalendar.com which I find is also more user friendly.

Alan, do you know if they hang around or is it just for the spring? There were reports of noises this time last year but not later on.

Many thanks for your detailed response Alan. Feeling guilty now as we have just had it converted to a salt water pool. However, the problems started beforehand. I thought Chlore Shock increased the acidity, which is part of the problem isn't it? We did use it to get rid of the algae in the first pla...

Noises in the night - Weasels or worse?

When we were in France at our house week before last we were kept awake at night by lots of scuffling and scratching in the roof space (between the tiles and the inside layer). We naturally thought rats but the guy we called out said it was probably weasels. He put poison in the gutters on both side...

Low PH in Pool - Please Help!

We are having a nightmare opening up this year with problems with caretakers, gardeners, weasels (see next post!) etc etc. The latest problem is that the pool was allowed to go green and having scrubbed it and manually "hoovered" it the PH level refuses to rise above very abnormally low le...
