Edouard Philippe announced today that all tourism businesses/services will be allowed to offer a postponement of cancelled holidays during the Coronavirus crisis which would be valid for up to18 months instead of having to refund guests who cancel. I don't have the official texte but it is mentioned...

If you use hydrogen peroxide (30%, no less) which you can buy in a pharmacie that works for mattress stains. Good luck!

One thing to be aware of if you speak to the Mairie - you may have to pay extra. I receive an extra bill from the SMICTOM because of my gites and the extra rubbish they generate.

Why can you only take the rubbish once a week? We have communal bins but I take rubbish as and when the bags are full. The communal bins are emptied once a week but there is no restriction on when you deposit your rubbish bags there. Are you only allowed to take your rubbish on Thursdays?

I don't charge for an early arrival of a few hours that I can accommodate without extra cost, but 8.30am is before the departure time of previous guests so charging for an extra night is fair.

Interesting that people will pay 15% more without protest. Suggests there’s scope to increase prices on direct leads and improve margins. But most people don't know they are paying 15% - at least my guests never realised until I told the ones who wanted to return that it would be cheaper booking wi...

Is anyone else having issues with Wordfence? It is going over and above duties as it is preventing me from accessing my WP sites as well as unauthorised users. I've had to disable it in order to update my websites.

Do people disapprove because of the cost? I've made a few claims (storm damage and once for a car breakdown) and there has never been an issue paying out.

Some quote occupancy rates in France as low as 20% which is diabolical and can no way support a business. I was chatting today with an owner on the Normandy / Brittany border and there occupancy has been falling continually for the last 15 years and can now only guarantee July and August but there ...

I'm with Pacifica and I've found that although they are a little more expensive than other companies their guarantees are usually much better. I'm very surprised too, just as well you checked!

Hi Martha,
Aren't you covered in the 'tempête, grele et neige' clause? If your tree fall is due to severe weather normally your insurance should cover you.

I'm another one that's given up on good tea-towels for guests. I get loads from IKEA and replace regularly. Me too - they aren't too expensive but are mainly white so do show the stains. I would never charge for them, once they are stained they go in the gite cleaning cloth bag. I've got hundreds o...

If you have a cancellation then AirBnB now allow reviews to be written. Posted about this in another section. The situation could turn against you. Ignore the derisive comments by a one member. http://www.laymyhat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27823 Is this post really necessary? The two topics are unr...
