I must say that Cornwall council have been very friendly and efficent from start to end. Well worth the small amount of effort invol...

We've now been rated for business rates based on the property size - Although it's cheaper than the council tax the saving is less than 250 pounds pa, less of a saving than I expected. But a saving none the less.

PAT Testing electrical appliances
Hi, Just started to rent our holiday property and we've been told that all electrical applicances must be PAT tested. Can anyone confirm this is the case and if so the frequency of the test, and does it cover all electrical appliances with a plug?
Thanks

A quick update.... After contacting the local Council tax office in Cornwall, I was passed to the Valuation office. They quickly sent me a short questionaire on my property inc details of marketing/websites and availability. Within two weeks I've had a letter saying that my property has been removed...

Reduction in council tax for holiday homes
Hi, Apologies if this has been covered before. I have a holiday home in Cornwall and have just received the hefty council tax bill (Complete with 10% discount for second home). As I run it as a FHL am I able to claim further relief? I've been told that you can claim up to 50% relief? If this is corr...

Many thanks for the prompt responses and comments. I've made some adjustments already and will certainly add some with blue sky as soon as we get some! I see the site as a living document that will grow with the house so should hopefully improve over time. It's the SEO I need to get to grips with no...

To bunk bed or not, that is the question....
Our place currently being built will have 3 bedrooms. As we'd like to use the place ourselves (2+2) with friends we've thought about putting two sets of bunk beds in the third room, it's just about big enough. So the property could then sleep 4 adults and 4 kids. However we're aware that this may ha...

Thanks for your comments. I've taken a look at similar properties in the area and some seem to have much better levels of bookings than others, I guess that's where the marketing and repeat business come into play. I also can't see the first 5 months of this year but am assuming around 6 weeks to en...
