This is worth thinking about. If you are selling a product (in our case a holiday) then the client has to be able to receive it. If the borders of your country are closed you can't sell your product and should refund your client. If the borders of the client's country are closed then they can't rece...

I had this answer from Pour-les-Vacances who I advertise with, when asked what if our clients use the excuse "force majeure" to demand a refund of their "arrhes" and cancellation of their reservation: "Cette mention de “force majeure” ne sera acceptable que pour un séjour pr...

I was in the unlucky situation of having an inspection by the tax office. 2 of my gites did not have the official classification "meublé" de tourisme" although all were declared at the mairie. The tax office went back 5 years and my accounts were adjusted accordingly. Luckily no fine ...

Cotisations Sociales 2017

You may have heard that if you earn more than 23000€ from your gites you have been liable to pay Cotisations Sociales on the amount over 23000€ since January 2017. If your gites are "classés" the amount isn't too much...for me with 3 gites declaring my earnings as LMNP under the Micro-Bic ...

It depends what you want from Facebook I think. I use it to tell my visitors what's on the area, to show photos of things I might see in the area...wild animals, landscapes etc As soon as I have an enquiry I send them a link to my FB page and I think it does convince them that a holiday "chez m...

The régime générale is paid through URSAFF I think as opposed to RSI. From all i've heard it is best to steer clear of RSI. My gites are my only income. I have had a contrôle by the tax office and they seem to think I am doing the correct thing being LMNP Micro-Bic but not auto-entrepreneur. https:/...

I have been researching also. I am LMNP Micro-bic. I am not registered with the CCI and am not obliged to be, because I don't offer at least three of the following things: le petit déjeuner ; le nettoyage quotidien des locaux ; la fourniture du linge ; la réception de la clientèle. If you are not re...

New rules for declaring gite income

Hello I have 3 gîtes classified as meublé de tourisme "étoile préfectorale" and until now have always declared my earnings as LMNP under the régime Micro Bic with the reduction of 71%. But as the "Projet de loi de financement de la sécurité sociale 2017" has now been voted in doe...

I'm with Credit Mutuel de Bretagne and I ask my UK guests to pay by bank transfer to my French account, for me to receive the amount in euros. I never have to pay charges to receive their payment but I'm sure they do. No-one's ever complained.
