I am stunned as well - I didn't find Joanna's posts offensive. Thought they were rather blunt, straight talk, which is refreshing in a forum more dominated by what I think is a UK style of communication, with things said, without being clearly said (if you know what I mean). Honestly, both styles of...

Thanks for this. Is it worth buying the top of the range model? 480€ in France. Gulp. But one less task to farm out. Olive, We got the 560 model from Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/iRobot-Roomba-Vacuum-Cleaning-Robot/dp/B0013FEND6/ref=tag_dpp_lp_edpp_ttl_in_f It cost roughly 300 sterling - this was...

Re: Roomba

We use a Roomba. It cuts down on effort, but not time as it takes a looong time to clean a room. But it really does a good job and frees up a pair of hands to do other stuff.

Carpets, wooden floors and tiles - I think it needs a wider suction pipe, so the wet debris does not clog it up

Greenbarn, We have a steam vac combo, and unfortunately it does clog. So we vacuum first and then steam. But it still clogs and is a pain to clean. I can't remember the make - it is Italian and was quite expensive. Wish we had bough a cheap steamer instead. That way, we could have used the roomba/re...

Re: Refusing bookings, Damage deposits, Billing for damage

He's become an unofficial caretaker. He also does things entirely on his own initiative... Takes our guest update list out and pours over it carefully. We pay him, at our insistence. He's more of a friend, now, than an employee. Neither do we want to light-heartedly ignore a comment he made to us: ...

Re: Refusing bookings, Damage deposits, Billing for damage

But how about a urine-soaked bathmat shoved away in the washing machine? Our neighbour rescued it, rinsed it out and left it for when the cleaners come. We don't want to push it. He's like gold dust! We're totally split, ourselves, on these issues. Mousie hit on one of our major concerns. We don't ...

Re: Refusing bookings, Damage deposits, Billing for damage

Wonkeye, I sympathize with you, but my advice is a bit different: I would not charge for the damage - the overloaded dryer and bed wetting are hardly worth charging for - your dryer works and many children do wet beds - this is normal stuff Regarding the leaking tap - it clearly seems accidental, an...

Greenbarn, I agree, the starting point is what image does the business want to convey? For example would totally agree with Windy that logo one gives the image of a 5 star country hotel. My OH thought the same, as well... BTW, think all the logos are really well designed - great job by whoever has d...

As for religious issues, I believe the concept behind most Christmas decorations is related to Pagan festivals? Certainly Holly, Ivy and Mistletoe, (fertility rites? Careful who you allow in); all the sparkly multicoloured stuff is designed to ward off evil spirits. Even the choice of date harks ba...

Thanks Honeybee - as it happens we do know how to make a business plan and don´t have any problems running our business. Fortunately, neither do we (as you can see from my previous posts) have to face screening problems. But kind of you anyway Strange as it may seem, I was actually trying to clarif...

The HUD site quite clearly states the point that single family holiday rental units will not be exempt from non-discrimination laws. Please see the stuff in bold: b)Nothing in section 804 of this title (other than subsection (c)) shall apply to-- (1) any single-family house sold or rented by an owne...

Brooke, excellent links, many thanks, though they have been withdrawn and it will be interesting to see the up-to-date versions. One extract has been brushed over (but see above): A property is exempted from the (Fair Housing Discrimination) rule if: • The individual owner does not own any interest...
