I bought the Shark Two-in-One from Lakeland and it works a treat on most things apart from grout. Take note if you use it overseas, to prevent limescale build-up you have to use distilled water.

If you update your calendar (then delete the dates if necessary) each week it pushes you up the rankings, although below the Premium, Gold etc.

I expect most renters are looking for an open fire or a logburner in a cottage, especially in winter. Giving user instructions is essential. Overstocking fires (and going to the pub) or storing the wood next to the fire can be a hazard. Don't forget the carbon monoxide alarm. http://www.thisiscornwa...

You make a good point Richard.

Some of the rental portals are pushing forward with online booking engines where neither the owners or enquirers emails are disclosed, in an attempt to reduce scams.

I don't think this is in the best interest of owners though.

What happens when you play along with a scammer

One owner 'played along' with a scammer who was trying their luck with the overpayment type scam.

It's surprising the lenghts the scammers go to and that anyone actually falls for this.

There are some begginers SEO guides out there that can be useful in getting the basics right. Due to the agency costs involved for owners, the diy route is the best way to go. Personally I wouldn't listen to anyone who cold calls and offers seo services/guaranteed top positions. A targeted adwords c...

The main holiday rentals sites are taking steps to prevent phishing scams by moving away from letting advertisers reply to enquiries by email, to 'owner dashboards' where all correspondence is done on the portal. No emails are disclosed.

What do you think?

I think it's a positive development as long as the online booking process allows owners the flexibility to review booking requests rather than bookings being automated.

I wonder what the charges will be as Paypal's can be high.

Maybe someone who edited the guide should have spent some time on here first :)
What if they don't accept credit cards?
If they don't, think carefully about going ahead.
Not many owners do due to the charges. Speak to owners, research and read reviews if you have concerns.

How to get cheap holiday rentals

There seems to be an increasing trend in 'what’s your best offer' and 'we only have a budget of x' enquiries. This approach is encouraged by moneysaving expert in their Cheap Holiday Rentals guide; http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-holiday-rentals Some quotes; So the more folks you cram ...
