I have to say that Richard at HolidayRentalManagement is very helpful. I have heard nothing but praise about him and his product, PIMS. I have just had a lovely telephone conversation with him because I have been meaning to sign up to PIMS for a long while. My holiday house was closed for a while be...

We have had a Saniflo in one holiday house bedroom for seven years. When it goes wrong, it is a nightmare as the cost of a new one is £800. It has only been blocked when guests have put inappropriate things down it. A major problem is that the engineers cannot come out immediately - they usually nee...

I have been going for over five years. At first, I was worried about notices and avoided them. Now I do have selective laminated notices where they are useful e.g. recycling information next to kitchen bin etc. Guests appreciate being informed. So, after having to foot a bill of £800 for a second ti...

Thank you to those who have analysed their bookings. I use an agent for all my lettings. But I am interested in knowing from where you all get your bookings when you do not have agents. What are the abbreviations for the ones below? HL - Holiday Lettings OD - Owners Direct FK - Flipkey AB IK HT BC B...

Nisbets is where I get my white china. It's durable and easily replaceable. You can get lots of it as they are always having offers. It's better to offer too much than too little. http://www.nisbets.co.uk/ If you are near their showroom in Avonmouth, Bristol, they have a showroom with lots of bargai...

Thank you for the link to the article. The problem with this fraud is that it is international. This case was a Belgian couple, a French house, a British owner, an American internet company and a German bank account. Who is responsible? My friend says it seems that the problem came with the HomeAway...

IMPORTANT-scam via HomeAway

A friend, who has a holiday house in France, has just had a shock. A family contacted her about coming next week for their 2-week holiday but she had not received the booking. The family had booked through HomeAway in January, paying 6000 euros. But it appears that hackers had got into the HomeAway ...

A German friend of mine told me off for not putting the loo lid down (I used to keep the seat down and the lid up) and not closing the bathroom door. She said it was bad feng shui and that because bathrooms and loos leak energy, lids should be down and doors closed.

Recommendation for a robust cordless kettle?

Does anyone know of a good make of kettle that is robust? Is there such a thing as a commercial kettle? At the moment, I am replacing a kettle every 6 months. My holiday house sleeps 14 and I provide 2 kettles for guests. I have searched for this on the Forum and found recommendations for toasters (...
