Hmmm. I'm dead set against giving discounts for anything. It used to sicken me when my directors were pushing me to get silly discounts from suppliers. Often, if I thought the prices were good, I wouldn't ask. If people believe the prices they're looking at are fair, and include alot, then they shou...

Ask the enquirer what it is that they do for a living. If they are shopowners for example, ask for a discount on your weeks shopping. If he's a milkman, then I think a month's supply of gold top would be acceptable? If she's a secretary, how about 10 hours of her time answering your telephone?

Because we have our own dog, two cats and 8 hens, we tend not to accept other pets here, especially during high season and with so many children on site. But, it's totally discretionary, and at the moment we have a black lab on site who is an absolute darling. She doesn't bark, is always on her leas...

Jim, (and others) thanks for your thumbs up. I think I should explain a few things. I use any and all media to try and give both potential, imminent and returning guests a taste of what's in store for them here. We already fight a bit of a battle as our place is a bit different from the norm in that...

Reading through this thread, I wrote and cancelled my listing with them, only to be given the 'extra 60 days spiel'. Lo & behold, the very day after I cancelled - I received an enquiry. No further communication as we're already booked for those dates.

Coincidence?

The brown stains could be due to something else (periods, for example). I don't know many people who would dye their hair on holiday, it is something you would do before. We've got the boxes to prove it. That notwithstanding, why the hell do we provide washing machines if people are just going to w...

It's always the cream-coloured towels that guests use to mop up anything remotely unsavoury. The latest thing with us are younger ladies using hair dyes, and then towel-drying their hair. It's only after thery've left and you're collecting the towels from various places to wash 'em that you notice! ...

Most people set up twitter & facebook accounts and only add friends or family. If updates or announcements are solely confined to them - it ends up being a waste of time. I don't think that's the case at all. I have 3 family members listed on my Twitter, and a few more on my FB page. I think it...

I don't think you need to regret anything. It's your place. Your choice!

I just wish sometimes we could do the same. By the middle of August my nerves are taut as a violin string!

Our Maire congratulated me on returning the forms. Seems like there's not been much take up in our area, despite my telling quite a few people about it, and asking them to 'pass it on'. The day after I took them in, I received in the post the 'official' stamped second page of the document, which I'v...

I have an accountant. Always have had. It's far easier that way. Saves me from wading though, and trying to understand the countless laws, updates, régimes etc. If I were to be in business in the UK, I'd do the same. I'm too busy running this place to be bothered about any of the legal side of thing...
