Because that’s not my cancellation policy, that’s why. In that case I think you will have to come off HomeAway. Or at least find ways of arranging bookings other than through their platform. Unfortunately these days they have the final say. That's what we sign up to, those of us who are still on it...

HomeAway Strict Cancellation policy - quoted below. 'Holidaymakers who cancel at least 60 days before check-in will get back 100% of the amount that they've paid. If they cancel after that point, they will not get a refund'. I don't understand why they didn't just get their money back, if they did ...

Homeaway chargeback
We’ve just had an email from Holiday Rent Payments who (those that use HA) used to be the Homeaway payment provider until late last year (I think). Anyway, they say a guest that had booked for 18 July at our villa has issued a chargeback via their credit card company saying “no service was available...

How would they know what we're doing? For example I've had guests accept a 50% refund where we've let the stay 'play out' as if they stayed and I've refunded them 50% and moved their dates. Some are happy to just move dates without a refund. Would they only know if guests contact them and say they ...

Anyone seen the latest email sent to HomeAway guests on April 3rd? I can’t copy and paste it but take a look at their “discovery hub” (google “Coronavirus HomeAway” to find out. Basically they’re now saying if you don’t give at least a 50% refund they will give you a 1-star review and your listing w...

Re: Updates to help with COVID-19 cancellations, and my emai
You've probably seen an email entitled "Updates to help with COVID-19 cancellations", and the new HomeAway policy. I've replied to this email, but as I can't seem to find Jeff's personal email, for some strange reason, I've had to reply to a previous email from Rebecca Barton, who is appa...

Re: Homeaway reviews
Even thoughguests came from a different source, if you input their name as a reservation on Homeaway system then yes they can post a review but you need to do one first on them. That's what I always do. This option's now gone, unfortunately (it's what I used to do). Only people who have booked thro...

HomeAway reviews - now only if you book through them
Some of my bookings come direct through HomeAway, but to avoid their fees (both ways) I try and direct some enquiries through our own site. Of course I can fill in the guest details, including email address, but a recent 'book direct' guest said they hadn't received the email to review, which I aske...

Property Management Software - what to use?
We have 2 properties both listed on HomeAway and AirBnb. We mainly try and take direct bookings though, and so these websites are mainly our window (though some people insist on booking through them). However, it's becoming difficult managing them all and making sure payments arrive on time (with th...

Maximum rental days Valencian region
I read somewhere (on the Spain-Holiday rental guide) that currently The Valencian region has a limit of 60 days per year for a property to rental out to holiday guests (total), and that there is a proposal to limit this to 45 days. Is this correct? We have a tourist licence but this was never highli...

Owners Direct may not be fully merged with HA yet - there may be some independence in management control. So don't assume that it is across the HA family. It is. Do you mean Owners direct is fully integrated, or that the increase is across the HA family, or both? Owners Direct was not fully integra...
