It's a nice design, nice use of images, but unfortunately it's not very usable and usability should come before design in my opinion. As others have said, it is way too slow to load and some of the white text is unreadable, because it appears on a white background (click on 'installation' for an exa...

I'm not so sure about that Ed. My own web site is on the first page of google on a search for "Brittany cottage". It is the second link listed for "Josselin" my local tourist town, coming after wikipedia but before the official Town Hall's site. I know next to nothing about sear...

Hi rosebud, PromoteMyPlace is excellent for creating and managing a holiday rental website. It's really easy to use and they add new features on a regular basis. The support is also top notch. But in answer to your question about visibility, creating a website with them, or anyone for that matter, i...

It's worth checking Facebook and Twitter. They sometimes post them on there.

Hi Giles, You really don't need to worry about the technical side of things with PromoteMyPlace. I think you'll be fine. The best thing to do is sign up for the free trial and see for yourself. As Teckidecki said though, it's a good idea to get your content and photos together first. I wouldn't nece...

As gam said, you didn't mention whether you've done any link building i.e. getting other websites to link to yours. Without doing this your rankings are unlikely to change. Regarding books, I read one called "Get to the Top on Google" which was pretty straight forward in it's explanation, ...

My 'Promote My Place' website is doing very well for me too. It's generating enquiries and bookings. In the summer I was getting over 400 unique visitors a month. It's dropped a bit now, but that's to be expected with less people searching at this time of year. As Helen said, it's not an advert wher...

Thanks everyone for your input, it's much appreciated. I am still considering PayPal as a means of taking payment, but not sure whether I should use it directly or set it up via a booking service. It looks like there's some interesting info in that thread e-richard pointed out. I haven't had time to...

Thanks Steve. That's good to know. I don't want to go through the hassle of setting something up if nobody is going to use it. I thought perhaps holiday makers would feel more comfortable paying by credit card because they are then covered by PayPal or the credit card company to some degree.

Online Booking - Is it worth it?

I'm considering adding online booking to my personal website. I'd be interested to hear from any of you that have done the same. What software are you using and have you found it worthwhile having online booking on your website? PayPal seems to be the simplest solution, but the commissions are quite...

PromoteMyPlace have recently added a new template and apparently there's more to come. I'm happy with the one i've got, but the new one looks great too. Thought it might interest those of you who are thinking about using their service.

Have you tried contacting PMP support about this? They seem to know their stuff with regards to SEO etc. They gave me some good advice when I set my site up.
