Collared doves drinking from the pool is always nice, as are the swallows and the bats at night.
I saw 3 snakes this week...2 very small, but one would have got the guests heart racing if they had seen it! Just outside our boundary thankfully!

I am interested not from the perspective of heading there imminently but from the perspective of wondering how all this is impacting upon bookings etc. for our LMH Turkey owners. I have a good friend in Turkey - Turkish, non holiday rental owner but connected to the tourist industry - and he says t...

Well, since my last post we have had the Ankara bombings of course  Just horrific. I think this season will be a total write-off, with just the local Turkish market maybe being active enough for everyone to at least pay their bills. We'll see. The large 5* All Inclusive hotels are now offering ...

Thanks Nemo and Mouse :) Yes, it's going to be a tough year(s?) but us holiday home owners are nothing if not thick-skinned I guess! Nemo, happy to talk about some positive things :) The famous Turkish hospitality, the beautiful Med and Aegean, wonderful culture and food, the sailing, value for mone...

2016 - A difficult season for Turkey
Hi all, As a villa owner here in Turkey, we are looking at a pretty tough year ahead for tourism. Problems here include; * The refugee problem coming out of Syria, via Turkey and heading for Greece and the EU. * The Turkish government's problems with Russia/Putin and the fact that zero Russians will...

Hi, and welcome to LMH, Your question is a big one, hence the deafening silence! :) The reality is that what works for one person/house/apartment/cottage, won't necessarily work for another. If you are going it alone (no agencies) then you do need to get your name out there as far as possible, certa...

I suppose it doesn't hurt to write a very nice letter and see what response you get? Yes, a nice letter and keep the tone friendly. I wouldn't charge for anything petty (and in this instance, I personally wouldn't charge for the towels). However, the guest asking for under occupancy discount, then ...

Therefore, I'm inclined to keep it very business like and just bill her for the additional guests and deduct it from the deposit (although the deposit is unlikely to cover it all). I will also charge for any ruined linens even though I wouldn't normally. It's important that you bill for this (well ...

Speaking for Turkey, I can say that foreign enquiries have pretty much dried up for the time being, but the local market remains quite strong. ISIS, refugees, Mr Erdogan (president), Syrian border, elections, PKK...Turkey remains in the media on a daily basis and experience tells me this always has ...

Did I read that right? They want 1,400 euro refund out of a weekly rate of 1,750? Were they living in the pool as well? :) Same thing happened to us 2 years ago (algae bloom early August) took us about a week to get it right. We offered £250 from a then weekly rate of £1,895 and it was graciously ac...
