8 years old… I used to be part of mentioned in the post Overture Company – it was exciting time but it’s been merged with Yahoo! since 2004. Long time ago… I think the idea in the post is still totally valid. I put it in a more general format – some might find it useful would like to contribute to b...

Greenbarn, I wouldn't call myself a SEO expert, but to answer your question Can any of the SEO experts tell me if a link from a home page has more value than a link from a partially (or fully) "buried" page, assuming for the purpose that the link is never clicked by a visitor to the site? ...

Hello Sunny,

The only way to get an idea of the cost is to contact experienced developers and discuss it with them. You would have to be more specific about your app and at least explain what it’s for exactly.

Hi Steve, I don't think the blue font colour works very well. Try #2977C8 instead for example - much softer and it's the same as the headings. I am not sure how much control over the layout you have. The main content div of the site should be centred. Maybe there too many items in the horizontal men...

caboroig, definitely go for your own domain name - keep it short and easy to remember. dot Com is probably your best choice. I noticed you have some nice reviews but you tried hard to make sure that no one will find them :-) I would swap "How to get there" with "Reviews". It shou...

Andy,

that's not bad but could be more attractive. At least you should make "read more..." (which is very passive) sound like "Book Now". More call for action - otherwise visitors may never click on any of the links. The follow up pages look better though.

If your target audience is in the UK - go for .co.uk As it's been mentioned already - if you can get both .com and .co.uk - just set a permanent redirect from .com to .co.uk As for the other markets - it's worth considering using their local TLDs, e.g.: .de for Germany. Thus the hosting geolocation ...

robots.txt has nothing to do with it.

What you probably want is to ignore these bots’ requests as they never existed when generating your website stats. This will depend entirely how your stats are generated.

It’s a bit technical. But I’ll try to explain. When a you click on a web link on a page – the browser generates an http request and sends it to the http server. Here is an example request: GET /en/html/dummy.php?name=some_name HTTP/1.1 Host: target_site.com User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 &a...

You just gave them some valuable backlinks from lmh :) I can see some of these site in my logs too. To do it is a very straightforward process: 1. Identify a target site (your site in this case) 2. Send a request with a spoofed “referer” header. This is how their site gets into your log files. I don...

Hi Roxytoo, can you post a couple of entries from the http access log? If you see them as "referrals/source of traffic" - that could be one the marketing things: they expect you to see their site in your logs and out of curiosity go to their site. That's one way to explain it. I see it in ...

I completely agree.

At the moment if listings are sorted by price whether high-low or low-high, listings without the price are at the bottom but I will take a step further and make it mandatory.
