Thank you everyone for your replies - since posting originally we realise that the month of October next year is going to be more suitable for us than April, although that doesnt really alter any of our plans in any other way. We want a month every year in Spain, dont want to hire a car so are think...

Where to stay on the coast
We are looking to stay in southern Spain for a month next April and would appreciate advice on which area to stay in. We want somewhere on the coast, not too far from an airport and in an area where there is a train route so we can use this to travel to other areas. Anywhere around Costa del Sol are...

Unfortunately the Canarian tourist officials are still under the illusion that they can exist and go more upmarket with their 5 star AI hotels and the rest of the tourists will be happy being herded into tourist apartments run by sole agents who can charge what fees they want to the owners and dicta...

Its all an absolute nightmare! I thought I read somewhere though that there may be different rules for villas? It also depends whether you have an independent villa or one on a tourist registerd complex. It may be worth asking your question actually on her website as she is very clear and concise re...

Thanks for that not sure if that ones for me Anyone tried http://www.lovehomeswap.com they have a point system that might help to get a better exchange ?? You would only consider an exchange on the site I recommended if it was of the equal quality of the one you own, you can refuse any exchange you...

Thanks Zoot and Badger! Badger, do you know if it is possible to rent at a reasonable rate for a few months? We don't need to be in a very popular place or by the sea, in fact I would prefer to be away from the tourist areas. Yes I am sure you would find somewhere and rates are obviously far more r...

Booboo; yes Winter is peak time in Tenerife but the rental was probably what you'd expect to pay in Summer on the French Mediterranean. You have to be careful where you choose to stay; the SW corner, Christianos and Playa Los Americas makes Benidorm look like a retirement home! After just coming ba...

I think you are limiting your options to couples only with 1 bed properties and as it is inland also I can't really see the advantages of that over the other 2 properties you are interested in Green and eco as it may be, I don't think that would have any influence on whether I would choose it for a ...

Very impressed with www.homebase-hols.com. Joined them about 6 weeks ago and have arranged 2 exchanges with enquiries from plenty more. I like it because it is straightforward - a yearly fee (about £29 for 1 or £39 for 2 years) and no points or banking system. You just contact someone direct if you ...

I think it is a good point about it being apartments that are easier to fill in winter. It is usually just couples on holiday then and they dont want to be rattling around in a villa on their own. Luckily, slightly different for me in Tenerife as, due to the climate, winter is our busy season so ful...

Hi Apple If you want control over who stays in your apartment then I would certainly suggest you take your own bookings via adverts through a reputable company such as www.holiday-rentals.co.uk, holiday lettings etc. By word of mouth you should easily find someone reliable to do your changeovers, cl...
