Just checked and there is a deposit of 10cents per bottle on this make. Here is a bit more background in English. They call deposit Pfland it seems-I gave you the word Depot which seems to be used more in Swiss German. http://germanylifestyle.com/shopping-in-germany/deposit-on-bottles-in-germany-pfand

No problem at all, glad to help. I'm in the German speaking part of Switzerland. Here too they have significant deposits on the empty beer bottles when they are from particular breweries so this is probably the reason they are taking the empties back. If you tell me the make of the beer, I will be a...

guest/visitors book

Hello all We need a new guest book as the old one is full. We have separate leaflets with information about the cottage and the area. When we started the first guest book, as first timers, we didn't write a "forward" in there and basically bought a visitors' book for people to fill in. Can...

We've had a problem for the last few years >5 years in fact. They hatch in the loft. We noticed that they fly towards the light and through our old ceiling spot lights that had holes for cooling but also let the light in. Now we have changed to either pendant light fittings or modern spot lights tha...

We used to be with RR. At the time I chose them as they would also employ someone to do the changeovers which suited my circumstances. The commission they take is very high and they have high standards. They accept bookings on any day of the week-a minus if you are running the changeovers yourself. ...

Several of our guests who want to bring a dog have mentioned the photo we have of our dog in the garden on our webpages. As they say a picture speaks a thousand words. :)

Interesting that Sykes have moved into Germany. A friend who works foe Dr Martins shoe care says this is a target market fo...

I have looked at the contract (we are with Sykes). It says you need to serve a booking Cessation Notice. If the booking cessation notice is received before the 30th June then you need to make the cottage available from the booking cessation notice until the end of the peak period of that calendar ye...

Edinburgh-just for info the Swiss Germans love all things Scottish. They even hold bagpipe tattoos here-check out the major annual one in Basel. In my own experience the Swiss spend most of their income on holidays rather than cars or houses and they have a very good income with a very strong Franc....

Exactly so Nemo. and as I am not based in the UK, using Sykes means it is one thing less to worry about. My previous agency charged 33% +VAT so Sykes 20% plus VAT is better value for me.

Hi all I have had the opposite experience with Sykes. They have allowed me to dictate my prices and also have supported me in managing two guest issues. My contract says I am free to sign up with other agencies and I don't have a specified "you can have so many weeks at high season malarky"...

A key question that came out of the ruling is "is a holiday being provided or just accommodation?" In the short term, key for me is improving my written records. I am trying to make sure I have records for all the things that we do that would signify that a holiday is being provided. For e...
