Brilliant!!! Works a treat, although its not very sensitive so it switched the air-con off even when i was sitting (admittedly transfixed) watching eastender omnibus. The night time overiude works well. the air con stays on at night and then at daybreak it switches it off. I reckon it'll pay for its...

Some things are cheaper.

Last guest broke the glass dining table so i am replacing it with a wooden one from IKEA (the BJURSTA model). Price in Malaga IKEA €99. Price in Milton Keynes IKEA £140!

From what you say you should gather a quorum of owners (administrator will have emails and addresses), hold an emergency meeting and vote a new president. Go see your community administrator immediately - he too will advise you on the law. Alternatively, inform them that you will denounce them for b...

The definite peak for bookings for my house in France (and the travel industry generally) is January. So I'm surprised your January bookings are so low? Not so my bit of Spain. Much more of a last minute affair. Over the last 6 years January, quiet as a mouse. March is when most of my peak weeks ar...

Just to confirm. In the last week, looking at my HL stats, there have many many searches for dates in April!

Spain is relatively last minute. It's not unusual (for our apartment) for us to be booking peak weeks (July and August) in March, April, May and even June. This year I must admit to a slight panic as so far we've only sold three peak weeks.

For a couple of years i did maintain an inaccurate calendar. But this was to test how well HL and HR compared in generating enquiries. As it happens I was able to re-direct any visitors to my immediate neighbour's website so no harm done. Now I keep an accurate calendar especially as this year i hav...

If you rent a property in Spain you must pay tax on the rental income wherever it arises. You pay on a quarterly tax return (or two tax returns if its a joint property), you need form 215 from the aeat website and you also need to register at the tax office to obtain appropriate bar code labels with...

Of course you have larger outgoings but it's all relative.

Advertising on HL and HR cost me over 10% of my annual rents. Leaving me with 90% for other costs and profit

For someone over the road from me in a 4 bed villa its more like 3%, leaving them with 97% for other costs and profit.

This year I'm less fussed about maximising bookings so I've cancelled HR and stayed with HL. they've just sent me a reminder my renewal is due in 5 days time and have offered me premium for a few quid less than simply renewing my classic ad. So i'll give it a go for a year. Then, who knows, I might ...

Hmmm.

What about a fire extinquisher, and a fire blanket in the kitchen?

Pretty essential i'd have thought, and very useful in the case of 3rd party injury claims and indeed public liability insurance.

Well I've just ordered a couple of units for our apartment and will report back in April. One of the units is 7 tears old so will be interested in effectiveneness. Neither of the units is a major brand (one labelled Kenni? and one labelled Desa?) I would be interested in how you test the units with ...
